My Friends did not read any reviews and pulled me into the trip at the last miinute. We arrived Friday, July 3rd only to find that this hotel had been shut down by the city July 2nd. No one notified us and the hotel charged us $850. They still have not given us a refund. Apparrently the hotel was drug... more

Please do not believe these pictures of this hotel. The only thing that is real about these pics is the front of the building. The room I went in was DISGUSTING. Do not bring anything valuable with you. Ladies NO JEWELRY. SCARY PLACE more

The pictures online are bogus. We payed for a king size bed and It was a full size bed, not big enough for the 2 of us. A pimp tried pulling me in his room. This place is drug, prositute, and thug infested. Im in new orleans alot and will never stay here again. Just last night a woman was... more

I stayed here recently...very seedy area and prostitutes hang outside this place during the day and night. I thought it was dangerous then and sure enough, tonight someone was murdered on the 4th floor. more

DO NOT STAY HERE, if you're not a very self destructive kind of person. A very shady and seedy place with thugs all over the place. The room was terribly dirty with butts under the bead and also cigarette jointbutts behind ha nightstand, even though we had asked for a non smoking room. There was no window and we were... more

Do not waste your money and do not believe the hotel's management responses to all fo the recent reviews. This place has not gotten any better. We felt unsafe during our stay. There are so mnay better hotels to stay at in the area that don't cost a lot. Read the reviews-I wish I did prior to staying. more

We booked this hotel on line and were horrified from the start. We are not picky, Motel 6 is fine with us, but this was unacceptable. There were prostitues everywhere. naked women "working" in the nasty little pool. No lockes on our door. a tiny prizon window to watch the drug deals out of your window. THe hall way was... more

Like many others I was duped by the pictures that were online into believing that the hotel would be a safe and comfortable place for my family to stay while in New Orleans. I've noticed after every review that the "new hotel management" has left a message saying that things are different and its all improved, but I guarantee you... more

Would not stay here and would not recommend to anyone. was booked into this 'hotel' with my partner. On arrival there were a number of drug dealers/drug users and down n outs hanging around reception and in the car park. we went to the room and were followed by two prostitutes who i think were trying to find what room... more

Checked in at a hotel that definaly didn´t correspond to their web-site. Had to change room first night due to an extremely noisy valve to the toilet. The second room had a number of stop in the sewage pipes. Did find on a number of occasions young people sleeping in the hotel corridors. Also french fries and empty Coke cans... more

Management response from
LETAPManagement, Owner

We would like to inform all customers that Canal Street Hotel has changed Management in SEP 2008 and changed name to Canal Street Plaza Hotel New Orleans. We realize that guest comments prior to SEP 2008 do not reflect the entire picture of the hotel as they only show bad things about the property. We have many happy and satisfied...
