Probably would give it 3.5 if possible. It ranks four stars for the location and hospitality. Quiet and convenient. I stayed in The Suite, and it could use a bit of TLC. But I have recommended it to others and would stay there again. Good value for NOLA. Free WiFi is a plus. If you want to hang out on... More

Best experience! I've been to NOLA several times but by far staying at the Royal Barracks made my experience exceptional. You are welcomed by Kelly who is absolutely wonderful and makes you feel right at home! We stayed in the Peacock Room set in a Shotgun style house. There is a quaint courtyard in the back for a pre or... More

We absolutely loved staying here! We stayed December 17-20. Upon arrival, Kelly and the dog gave us a tour, a glass of Chardonnay, and showed us to our room. I love how private our room seemed. We stayed in the Blue Room, which was the smallest room, but we don't need much space. The bed was comfortable, bottled water was... More

Stayed at the Royal Barracks Guest house and as usual it was wonderful! Kelly and Sugah were amazing hosts. This is the perfect spot to stay if you want to party in the quarter or on Frenchman! It is conveniently located and the rooms are so comfortable and clean. This is not our first stay here and won't be our... More

My husband and I stayed here for my b-day weekend! We live in New Orleans, but love to have staycations and experience the many hotels and attractions NOLA has to offer! Staying at the RBGH was by far one of our favorite home away from home to stay in! Quaint, quiet and sooooo New Orleans! In a great and safe... More

We spent a weekend at Royal Barracks Guest House, a real find for French Quarter accommodations. It is quiet, yet convenient to the party that is Bourbon Street, galleries on Royal Street, Frenchmen Street restaurants and art market, the French Market and the Riverfront Streetcar - easy walking or riding to everywhere we wanted to go. We stayed in the... More

The Royal Barracks is a step back in time, superbly appointed and meticulously decorated to reflect the true character and music origins of New Orleans. It is in a quiet street, but close to the action In Frenchmen and Bourbon Streets. Kelly who runs the Royal Barracks is a beautiful lady only too happy to help with her local knowledge... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! Loved the old New Orleans feel of the place. The room was small but very comfortable. We loved the courtyard (and the NOLA jazz CDs) - we brought Cafe du Monde back one morning and made our own outdoor jazz breakfast out there! Also loved having the small fridge for our own items. In a... More

This is my home away from home when I am in New Orleans. I have been coming here since 1994 and always recommend it to people because the French Quarter experience that Kelly and Sugar B provide is second to none. My friend and I are always warmly received. Part of the experience is sitting on "da stoop" with Kelly... More

Barracks House is very true to its images and the way it represents itself, its very old-school in a well kept sense, its like traveling back in time and actually enjoying it. My wife and I decided to take a short trip to New Orleans because we wanted to experience the rich culture and amazing cuisine, and neither of us... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
