How awesome is it to say you stayed in a guest house with bunk beds. This RBGH is in walking distance to French quarter and bourbon. The quarters are small and the pooper is a bit open but overall a neat little place. Problem which is why rating goes down is that when I came back Saturday afternoon, I could... More

We knew we were at home when Sugah B, the resident spunky poodle showed us to our room. This place certainly made our first trip to NOLA a memorable one! We stayed in the Peacock Room, which was beautifully decorated! I love that the place has no keys, just codes. It's so nice not worrying about where your key is!... More

Kelly is amazing, made us feel right at home!! The location is perfect!! Right between Frenchmen and Bourbon street. I will never stay anyplace else in New Orleans! It's not a resort but it has everything you will need for a trip to New Orleans. I really love this place! Feels like NOLA should feel. A few small grocery stores... More

We picked this after reading the great reviews on this site about the location (French Quarter) and the host, Kelly,....Wow, we did good! The house is not a hotel, it's a guest house so those looking for 5* hotel with a 24hr concierge desk etc look away BUT if you want a piece of last century history for your accommodation,... More

My husband arranged these accommodations as a surprise for my birthday and boy what a surprise it was. He thought he had reserved a bed & breakfast which it is not. The room was very small, the mattress was about 4 inches thick, the bedspread needed washing had a stale body odor smell, the dresser was old and the drawers... More

My partner and I visited NOLA a bunch of time pre-katrina, and always stayed at the Royal Barracks. First off, our original flight got cancelled and we were delayed by 3 days and had to re-arrange our time in the French Quarter. We spoke to Kelly on the phone and she was amazingly nice and helpful. We finally met her... More

My husband and I stayed in the Gothic Room which is a very dark room. I found a used water bottle next to the desk from the previous occupant which obviously cued me in to look a bit harder. The room would be NOLA charming but it is in desperate need of a good deep cleaning.

When in the French Quarter of New Orleans you want to feel like you really are in the French Quarter, and this hits the mark. Nicely decorated, quaint, intimate and personal. Our hostess Kelly made some accommodations for us that were greatly appreciated, and although I'm sure she is a busy lady we really felt she was interested in us... More

We stayed at the RBGH for New Years eve. The suite has pocket doors to separate the bedroom and sitting room. Besides privacy, the doors are thick enough to block street noise. As it is, the RGBH is on a quiet street, very close to the French District and Frenchman street. The furnishing in the room makes you feel you... More

Kelly and Sugah-B, her dog, greeted us at the Royal Barracks Guest House to show us to our room. The Peacock Room! The room was beautifully decorated with antique furnishings, and perfect for a couple! The house is in the best possible location anyone could ever want, directly between Bourbon and Frenchman streets, on a private, quiet block. The backyard,... More
