This is a fabulous old remodeled hotel right on the St.Charles trolley line. The customer service was top-notch, very friendly staff, and I would definitely stay there again. Tip: bring earplugs, if you are on the side of the hotel that faces St. Charles you will hear trollies Street noise all night long.

We stayed at the Pontchartrain during Tulane's parents weekend and homecoming. The rates are competitive (which on a big weekend is a challenge) and we were just a few stops on the streetcar from campus and all the great restaurants on Oak Street. The area is quieter than the quarter and you can easily walk to a few wonderful watering... More

We enjoyed our stay at the Pontchartrain. It is well-situated on St Charles Avenue away from all the bustle of the centre, but within easy walking distance of the Garden District and there is a trolley bus stop right outside the door.We found all the staff very friendly and efficient and nothing was too much trouble to them. The hotel has... The suite we booked into was amazing, clean, and bright with a good view of St. Charles Ave. The staff were super friendly and helpful, The streetcar runs right out front and takes you anywhere for $3 a day. The restaurant food was very good and reasonable, with a good sized helping. The Hotel has an ambiance right out of... More

Wealthy old ladies used to live in suites at the Ponchartrain Hotel. In the fifties and sixties celebrities stayed at suites named after them; on a downstairs table there are nameplates from those suites- the Richard Burton, the Jack Benny suite, etc. Hipsters may not find the room decorations to their taste and would not recognize the black and white... Unless you can get this place at a deep discount (less than $100 a night), I would look elsewhere. To start with the positives, it is in a great location with easy access to the streetcar, the staff are kind and helpful, free wireless, and the bar and study rooms downstairs are cozy and beautiful. The room has a very... More

Grand old Hotel returned to it's Splendor. Rooms comfortable, clean, service excellent and cairing management. The once famous Caribbean Room is serving 5 Star food. Stayed for 4 days and ate 5 meals there. Chef Remy a pleasure to meet. Will definitely stay there on NO visits.

My family and I just stayed for three nights. The suite was roomy with a separate bedroom, nice size living room and a small kitchen. Full size refrigerator, microwave and toaster oven enabled us to eat breakfast and restaurant leftovers in the room with no problems. It is located in the Garden District, so be prepared to ride the streetcar... More

The staff at this hotel couldn't be nicer. The room was very large with a small kitchen, dining area, and large living room. The only drawback was the noise. Since the room was on St. Charles you could hear the streetcars. More annoying was the late night sax player on the street and the guy using a leaf blower on... More

Stayed here to return son to Tulane for Sophomore year. Very pleasant staff, large and well appointed room. We are returning for parents weekend. The location makes it convenient to access the Garden District, Tulane and the French Quarter as the street car runs right in front of the hotel.
