I am one of 4 women who were booked to stay 4 nights at Gentry House, Jan.2016. Our recent attempt at staying at the Gentry House was so disturbing, I felt compelled to warn others. I read alot of the reviews here before we booked. While our experience may seem far from the norm, I know I read at least... More

We too were disturbed. The experience clearly did not meet their expectations … or ours. Housekeeper Angela is no longer with us. Suffice it to say that the apartment has been fully treated and scrubbed. Our regular extermination service performed a thorough inspection, and although no bed (or any other kind of bug) bug was found, the service applied a... More

Pro - Owner was super nice and greeted us promptly on arrival. Good location. Cons- The room was VERY unclean, specifically the beds and sheets. There is NO exaggeration here. There were hairs, dirt marks, blood, " white crusty areas" spread throughout 4 of the 4 beds. Clearly the room had been partied it to a great extent and not... More

My husband, I and our two children aged 10 and 8 loved staying at Gentry House. We found the owner to be very friendly and hospitable and we loved the warm croissants delivered to our room every morning! The location was great too - only a couple blocks from bourbon street. Our upstairs 1 bedroom apartment was very spacious and... More

Gentry house was a wonderful little spot in the French quarter that was close to all of the fun stuff but quiet enough for when you for ready for some r&r. My husband and I went for the weekend for a short honeymoon. We both had never been to NOLA but felt that we really hit the jackpot with this... More

We LOVE staying here! Quiet, quaint, and clean – Gentry House offers you a true French Quarter experience in an early 19th century Creole cottage. Ideally located just steps away from Louis Armstrong Park and few short blocks from Bourbon Street, Gentry House is close enough to enjoy all the action but far enough away to escape the noise when... Long story short, if you like having your door unlocked after midnight by the staff when you're asleep and on ambien, have them come shake you awake, pull you out of bed when you're in your underwear, make you get dressed and pack your bags so they can move you to the room they SHOULD have put you in at... We did indeed make a mistake, putting her into the 4-person room instead of the couples’ room that she’d booked. When the two couples arrived (late), we did have to make the change, for which we apologized profusely and about which she was amiable and completely understanding at the time. (Our recollection of the details is very different, and we... More

The B&B is close enough to the French Quarter to walk but far enough to be very quiet. The owners are very kind and will go out of their way for you. The rooms are clean and fresh croissants are delivered every day. The kitchenette was a good size for us to make quick meals, but let's be honest, you... More

The location of the Gentry House is central and walking distance to everything in the French Quarter, but on a fairly quiet street in a nice neighborhood. The hosts are friendly and accommodating, and the delivery of fresh, hot croissants in the morning is a REALLY nice touch! I stayed in the Toulouse, a large one bedroom apartment upstairs. The... I stayed in a one bedroom bottom floor suite for 8 days. It had a fully stocked refrigerator, large bedroom, T.V., small dining area, and pull out couch. The first day the hosts arranged an inexpensive, but very informative with walking tour which allowed me to get a general understanding of the history and local dining and jazz spots. Gentry... Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
