I stayed at 519 Frenchman's for the first time in a few years. I have stayed there many times before and the caliber of the accommodations were quite substandard. I am actually embarrassed that I had recommended this hotel in the past couple years. First there was MOLD, a lot of mold in the bathroom. It was growing off the... More

I spent a week here to visit my family over Christmas, and was very disappointed. The staff was great, I just wanted to make that clear before I start. I had no problems with them. We stayed in room 307. It faces the street and the noise never stops. The Blue Nile had the same brass band play every night... More

Depends what you come here for. Nightlife and cocktails. Jazz and Blues and 24/7 living then yeah. Great spot. If you need to sleep however you need the business district instead. I got to sleep each night around 3am when the music from the street stopped. But then the trash carts and city clean up wagons and police made as... More

I'm an Australian Mum travelling with 3 boys (aged 10, 12 and 14) and this was the last stop on out US road trip before flying back to LA. The location is absolutely awesome - as we were checking in a parade was passing by the front. The shared balcony (we were on level 2) was great for watching the... More

No HOT water all week. Could not be fixed by plumber. Had to use other vacant apartment when vacant. Furnishings sparse, not a place to get sleep. Music and loud crowds til 4 am and sometimes longer. Not a family place for small kids.

Traveled with 2 children ages 2 and 8. They loved being able to sit and still hear the music from the balcony. Wonderful location. Lovely staff. We had a wonderful time. Will be staying here again. The key code to gain access was a nice comfort.

We arrived early and check in was not until 4pm. The staff tagged all our luggage and stored it away. Once we checked in we noticed that our room was very cleaned and even mopped! The space was great for five of us. We used the kitchen which was fully supplied including a coffee maker, can opener, toaster and a... More

We stayed with kids 10 and 12, the location was really good for us to walk everywhere each day. We were lucky and had a room at the back of the hotel, I think this made it easier for the kids as the music played very late each night outside, having said that it was nice as parent to be... More

This is an absolutely great, cost-effective place for a Bachelorette party! Is it new and luxurious? No. But it's a little hidden gem. I went with 8 of my friends and we got 2 condos. Great location and the fact that it has a kitchen is extremely helpful. I did A LOT of searching looking for something like this and... More

I stayed here with two young children. It was booked for us by a travel agent. If you are traveling with children do not stay here or anywhere on Frenchmen street. It was way too noisy. We were also put in a room at the front of the building and the music didn't stop until 2am. My kids couldn't sleep.... More

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighborhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
