We rented out the inn for our family for New Years weekend and what an amazing decision. It is perfect home base to explore the city. The rooms are very large, well appointed, and are super clean. Each of the rooms has it's own theme all of which executed amazingly (can the owners come decorate my house?). The bathrooms are... More

Stayed with the family over New Year's weekend. Great ambiance. Each room decorated to fit a unique theme. Quirky and beautiful. Large suites that are extremely clean and comfortable. Owner/staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. Will definitely recommend to friends and family.

As my husband and I had been to NOLA a few times, we wanted to try something different, The lookout is more like your home than a hotel, Located in the Bywater neighborhood, which is eclectic with plenty of interesting local places to walk, eat, and explore. Bourbon Street and other more touristy areas are only a quick drive or... More

I loved this place. I was here for a couple days on vacation, if you call walking 26 miles over 2.5 days vacation (I was volunteering with Villalobos Rescue Center right down the street). I have never written a review before, and am not inclined to go on and on, but a few things to note, and I write them... More

The lookout was absolutely fantastic, a great suite with loads of space and very comfortable, great value and truly welcoming. We thought the location was perfect, far enough from the french quarter to be peaceful and relaxing while close enough to go party if you want to. We will definitely stay here again when we get back to New Orleans!

My husband and I stayed at the Lookout Inn in February for a night as we traveled to Florida for our Anniversary. The Inn is gorgeous. We stayed in the Elvis suite and to tell you the truth I was worried seeing that I am not a big Elvis fan. When we walked in we were blown away! The room... More

This little gem in the Bywater was an excellent stay for our group of 11 women. We rented all 4 suites which are very spacious yet cozy at the same time. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and excellently furnished. The owner was very accommodating as she made space for our luggage since we arrived early before check in and... More

So close to lots of great restaurants (Bacchanal!) and bars, but far enough from the Bourbon St insanity that you feel like you are experiencing more than just the tourist spots. Amazing accommodations and a beautiful pool area as well.

We Spent four days in July at the Lookout Inn and it was fantastic. The rooms are great and spacious, the house is beautiful and the small pool in the back is perfect. We love the Bywater and the Lookout is within walking distance of every nice bar and restaurant in the quarter. We could not recommend this strongly enough.

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighborhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
