Everything is excellent about this B&B: from the beautiful and tastefully decorated house on Esplanade Ave, to the spacious and clean theme rooms (I stayed at the Asian suite), to Peter's delicious breakfasts (fresh fruit and a choice of warm breakfasts that are worthy of a 5 star restaurant!), the friendliness of the hosts, to the great advice on what... Very generously sized room, with separate sitting room, with french door access to front balcony. Despite New Orleans heat and humidity, the room was very comfortable, with two air conditioning units. B&B was well located, quiet, but within easy access to Bourbon St. Great choice for breakfast menu, with many hot choices, cooked to order. Hosts were very friendly, welcoming... More

Thanks for writing. It was great having you stay in our European Suite, which has much to commend it. My favorite is the balcony overlooking Esplanade Avenue. It is such a pleasant place to relax after a day exploring the city. As a semi-tropical city, New Orleans is certainly often quite hot and humid in July and August, yet it... More

This bed and breakfast is such a lovely, quiet and peaceful place. The Asian suite even so it is the smallest, it is huge and very comfortable. You have plenty of space for your belongings. The design of the suite surely has a touch of Asia. In your en suite bathroom you will find a huge walk in shower and... More

It was great to have you stay with us and I am glad that you enjoyed it so much. The Asian Suite has become very popular, in part due to the new bathroom and shower. I'm glad you enjoyed the breakfasts. A treat is always the breakfast conversations among the guests from different parts of the country or places in... More

Mom and I stayed at Five Continents two weeks ago and we couldn't be more pleased! Peter was a wonderful host. We looked forward to breakfast every morning and appreciated a printed menu to choose from. When mom needed something slightly altered, Peter was happy to do it. We really enjoyed our furry new friend, Akko, as well. This is... More

So good to hear from you, and glad that your stay at the Five Continents was so enjoyable. As you indicate, there are several options to get to the various attractions. One can, of course, walk or drive, but the bus is a very convenient option, because one can take the bus to the French Quarter, to Canal Street, to... More

We recently spent two nights in the carriage house at Five Continents. The extra privacy of a separate space behind the main house worked well for us. The weather was fairly hot, but the A/C unit and the ceiling fan kept us comfortable. Peter's breakfasts were incredible -- I've never stayed at a B&B that offered such custom-made, fresh breakfast... More

It is great to hear from you. Thanks for writing. So glad you enjoyed the "Cottage" in the carriage house, and our breakfasts. I am told it is indeed unusual to have a printed breakfast menu with various freshly-cooked options at a B&B. It's turned out to be very popular and I'm so glad you liked it. As you note,... More

We had 3 nights with Peter and Akko at 5 Continents B&B in May 2014 (Eurasian Suite). The location for us was perfect - on the fringe of the French Quarter with good access to the Treme. Peter was the perfect host who imparted a wealth of local knowledge, as well as being a fantastic chef - cordon bleu breakfast... More

Thanks for writing. It always great to have people from "down-under." The Eurasian Suite is a very expansive space, and as you note, now has two bathrooms, one for each bedroom. So, it works well for two couples or for people who just like a bit more space. Hope to see you again soon on your next visit to New... More

We decided to include this B&B in our roadtrip purely on the Tripadvisor comments. We were very right to do so. Peter greeted us in the car park with a large umbrella as the heavens had opened big time on our way in. Our room was totally beautiful and we had our own entrance and a small veranda. The room... We arrived in New Orleans late into the afternoon during a huge downpour and we were met by Peter with a huge umbrella to get us into the house relatively dry. The B&B is absolutely beautiful and the owners obviously take enormous pride in maintaining the place and creating a homely atmosphere. We were in the Far East suite and... More

Thanks for writing. I'm glad you found us. It was great to have you here. We do get our share of rain here from time to time. Fortunately the rain showers are usually intermittent, even if they are heavy. We are indeed close to the French Quarter and Frenchmen St. and the walk is safe and pleasant. Hope to see... More

We stayed here when I was pregnant with my son. The cottage was impeccable, the bathroom amazing. We loved that we could bring along our little dog, leave the car safely parked, and enjoy the walk to the French Quarter each day. Thanks for writing! It was great to have you all here. We like it that we can offer the North American Cottage as a pet-friendly accommodation. We also try to meet the dietary needs of our guests with our varied menu, and can always make alterations as needed. Hope to see you soon again at the Five Continents. More

My wife and I stayed here for our 6 year anniversary. The breakfast was great and the owner/chef is very nice. He gave us a ride to dinner in the pouring rain one night because taxis won't stop to pick you up. It's really weird. And no taxi company will send people there at night. It's an 8 block walk... Thanks for you stay at the Five Continents and we are glad that you enjoyed our historic house and the hospitality. Not your normal Bed and Breakfast. The Five Continents is a reflection of the owners' world travels and life experiences. Both the founding and current owners have lived in or visited five of the seven continents of the world, hence the name. Located just six blocks from the French Quarter down the historic Esplanade and close to the Race Track at the Fairgrounds where the world famous New Orleans Jazz Festival is held, the Five Continents is perfectly situated for a memorable visit to the "Big Easy". ... more   less
