We discovered Schiro's after our rental "camp" on Ponchartrain blew away in Katrina. We visit N.O. (from Michigan) yearly for Jazz Fest, and a few times in between. Service is good, ask and receive. Rooms are all different, no cookie cutter, several open directly to the balcony, otherwise balc. access is easy down hall. Could skip Jazz Fest and still... more

This is really a unique guest house. where else can you find a grocery store, bar, restaurant, all with a guest house on the second floor. I have stayed over 12 time since the hurricane and have never had a bad experience. It is a quiet place, the staff is friendly. If i've needed something or the room needs attention,... more

A great place to stay while in New Orleans. A short walk to Frenchmen Street, which has great bars and music. Easy walking to the Quarter as well. Good food in the cafe. Overall the place has a great vibe and feel to it. I have stayed here twice and have enjoyed it both times. Definitely recommended. more

Located in a good part of the city only a short pleasent walk to the French Quarter. The room is nice with access to a balcony where you can watch the city go to sleep or wake up. Very pet friendly. Everyone who we had contact with was very nice and helpful. We had a full breakfast eash day except... more

This was the second time we stayed at the Balcony Guest House; its a reasonably nice place to sleep. The rooms are adequately sized, the beds reasonably comfortable. There was a lot of street noise on Sunday night. We had drinks on the balcony overlooking Royal Street, and watched the neighborhood life go by... if you're looking for a 'local... more

My wife and I enjoyed this wonderful place when we helped in some re-building projects around Mardi Gras, when rooms were often hard to find. The owner, Zak Rahman, was most gracious to us, and even gave us a discount for helping New Orleans! It was a privilege to help and to learn more of what New Orleans and its... more

Schiro's is great. We changed our date of arrival twice and had no problems at all. The price was surprisingly reasonable, and the staff was friendly. Tiny hotel upstairs without stuffy B&B feel, with micro/fridge. Small grocery/bar/restaurant downstairs met all our needs. The balcony is lovely, and the Marigny is a great neighborhood in which to stay. Its proximity to... more

We booked our stay with extremely short notice (the day we were leaving for NOLA!) and then realized less than an hour later we probably wouldn't make it all the way there for the first night. When we called back, they were very friendly and said that wouldn't be a problem -- we had just called, and so they gave... more

We were looking for a good deal and something not too far away from everything. We found a great spot to stay in New Orleans. If you haven't been to New Orleans lately you might not know about Frenchman Street. This is the "new place to be." And, the Balcony Guest house is just a couple of blocks away. There... more
