I don't know how we could have had a better experience in New Orleans at any price. Our room (the Cypress Room) was spotless and soothing. We loved the lack of fussy florals and Victorian decor so prevalent at other B&B's. We absolutely felt safe at all times, even when we came in from a late dinner. The breakfast pastries... more

Ah…………New Orleans, one of my favorite cities!! It’s thriving and making such a comeback since Katrina. What could be better than the Sweet Olive B & B, nestled within Faubourg Marigny and easily within walking distance of the French Quarter. If you’re in a hurry it’s a 15 minute walk. If you take the time to enjoy the diverse, eclectic... more

The character, not to mention the history, of this 140 some year old home is evident the moment you walk through the front door. The high ceilings and architectural details are wonderful…if only walls could talk. The hospitality of David and Dale, and their knowledge of New Orleans will knock your socks off. Their love of Mardi Gras and the... more

The Sweet Olive B&B is the perfect spot from which to venture out to explore the exciting city of New Orleans. This B&B is biker-friendly, allowing for off-street, secured parking. It boasts the most gracious hosts (Dale and Dave) who know the ins and outs of their city. They are happy to tell you about its rich history and help... more

This was my most recent of many stays at the Sweet Olive. It is the only place I will stay in New Orleans. The Sweet Olive is an obet d'art, having been painted inside by the former owner, one of New Orleans' top muralists. Each room has different theme and all are comfortable with good baths. The Sweet Olive is... more

I had a great stay at this Bed & Breakfast. It felt like a second home. Everything I needed was right there. The owners went out of their way to tend to their guests, as did their housekeeper, Miss Clara. The house is clean, quite large and beautiful. The rates for rooms were extremely reasonable. It's in a great neighborhood... more

My husband and I spent 6 nights at the Sweet Olive in April 2009. We stayed in the Magnolia room, which has a queen bed and ensuite bathroom. Despite the reports of a couple recent reviewers, we found the room to be clean and pleasant. It was a reasonable size, had a very high ceiling, air conditioning and the bathroom... more

Thanks to this helpful feedback we've taken steps to reduce the office noise outside of the Magnolia room. While we wouldn't characterize them a "paper thin" there isn't a lot we can do about the walls in our 170-year-old house, since the previous artist/owner spent a year meticulously covering them with hand-painted faux-bois treatments. They are very much part of...

Well, you read the reviews on Sweet Olive and see the pictures so it looks fairly nice and we say well it must be ok because it's in a "nice" neighborhood. OH MY GOD!! Heaven help us as we drove along the streets trying to find this establishment and thinking....we are screwed on this one as we paid in advance.... more

Wow, such a detailed and colorful review, deserves an equally detailed and colorful response, which I’ll do my best to provide. First, let me say that we’re greatly relieved that texaswinesnob did indeed wake up alive the next morning. And we’re also delighted that in spite of apparently being afraid for their lives, they chose to stay an additional night...

Wonderful eclectic (not super tourist oriented like the French Quarter) neighborhood (Fabourg Marigny) within 10 minute walk to French Quarter.Gay friendly establishment. Hosts David,Dale, Miss Clara are warm and charming.Happy, the resident dachsund adds to the ambience .Room was very dusty(back of doors are carved - 1/8" thick dust)we cleaned bathroom-floor,sink,toilet,shower before using ,and used shaving stuff ,used soap on... more

This B&B reminds me of my grandmother's house and it is located at an eccentric, and friendly neighborhood (faubourg marigny) and is directly across the street from where we can easily park our car. We stayed in the Palmetto room which was tastefully painted with palm leaves. I loved the old doors, the decor, and the way that our room... more
