We have stayed in several B&Bs in New Orleans, each one unique and wonderful in its own way. Our stay at Auld Sweet Olive may have been our best experience yet. The house is lovely, quiet, comfortable. Breakfast was always just enough goodness to get us through to a late lunch. For us the location was ideal. A wonderful yoga... More

I found it really quite difficult to work out where to stay in New Orleans, because I was booking from Australia and had never been to the city. Finally one day I stumbled across this lovely B&B on Tripadvisor. How lucky was that! It is the most delightful little house, beautifully decorated and maintained. Nancy, the innkeeper is friendly and... More

If you're looking for a warm and friendly place to stay, with gracious hosts and interesting guests, Auld Sweet Olive is the place to choose. It isn't right in the middle of everything, which is an advantage for those who want to escape the bustle and noise of the French Quarter, but it is a quick cab ride away or... More

Nancy is a sweetheart! Couldn't ask for a better host! My family had an early destination Christmas celebration in New Orleans and this was the perfect place. The house was clean and charming, decor added to the NOLA ambiance, and the Christmas tree in the dining room topped everything off perfectly. Breakfast was top notch, rooms were super comfortable, and... More

In our first trip to New Orleans, we had decided to try staying at a bed and breakfast. We found this one and were very happy that it didn't have one negative review. Nancy was a very gracious hostess and the staff were very helpful. They keep the place spotless inside and out, and breakfast was always AMAZING. Home baked... More

When my boyfriend and I started researching places to stay in New Orleans, we were a little discouraged at first. Based on our limited budget, we'd lowered our expectations considerably, and were mostly aiming for a decent level of cleanliness. Then my boyfriend found the Auld Sweet Olive. It sounded too good to be real. As it turns out, the... More

My first visit to New Orleans was for my 40th birthday and I could not be happier with where we stayed. It was an all girls trip and we were flying from every corner of the US. I loved the location, in the middle of residential/funky neighborhood close to Frenchmens and even walkable to the Quarter. It was an quick... More

This charming house is situated in a quiet part of the city but only a 10 minutes walk to French Quarter and Frenchmanstreet. It is beautiful decorated and has the charme of the old New Orleans. Simply amazing. Nancy the owner is such a friendly person and by the the way the best Baker in the whole US. The breakfast... More

What a great find! This was just what my boyfriend and I were looking for during our 3-night stay in New Orleans. Auld Sweet Olive is located in a lovely neighborhood, away from touristy areas, but still close enough to easily get anywhere we wanted to go. The room was very comfortable, and the whole place is tastefully and uniquely... More

Our stay with Nancy was excellent. Her place was conveniently located to the French Quarter as well at Frenchman's Street. The bus line to the streetcars were only a block or two away. Nancy was able to guide us to excellent restaurants (loved the St Roch Market). Our room was very clean and the breakfast was very tasty. We would... More

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighborhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
