I stayed in a 16-bed room with one shared bathroom. It was air condition and linens, towel and even a wash cloth was furnished. There was no computer and no food, even coffee. It was pretty clean and secure and fairly efficiently run and the staff were fairly friendly and somewhat helpful. It was just a short block to the... More

The reviews here are very polarizing. I was somewhat nervous booking. So I sent an email to St Vincent's saying I had read the reviews and didn't want a dirty room. They responded quickly and said they would make sure of the room's cleanliness. They pulled through. Our room was very spacious and had a nice big bed. It was... More

I was a little worried about St Vincent's because of the reviews. But the place was lovely. It is charming and has character. And above all, it was clean. I've seen some reviews suggesting the place is messy but from top to bottom, room included, there wasn't anything messy about it. Yes, it lacks some of the amenities of a... More

The hotel and grounds are set in a lovely location and the room was very nice with tall ceilings and feature windows. Beautiful building which would look better with a bit of TLC. Fairly basic but that's what should be expected given the price. Wifi was fairly slow and temperamental- although no worse than many other places. Unfortunately cleanliness left... More

We were very excited about our visit to St Vincent's Guesthouse but were so disappointed when we arrived. It is in a lovely area, looks nice from the outside, was fairly easy to get to the main stuff in New Orleans and the staff were OK but our room and the cleanliness of the hostel as a whole was shocking.... We chose St. Vincent's because it was within our budget. We knew it was under renovation/repair, so our expectations weren't high on anything. Our room had a clean, king sized bed and regular amenities that a budget hotel/motel has. Everything in the room was clean. And we slept like babies! The fact that St. Vincent's is under renovation and can... More

If you are the kind of person that is travelling on a budget, isn't ultra picky, loves life and loves meeting a rich mixture of people then this place is for you. If you kick off about not having a wifi everywhere and a stick up your back then go stay at a commercial place. My friend and I arrived... More

very very funky, but ambiance great for very non-mainstream folks who want an inexpensive room near the action & have no expectations at all - building being slowly worked on so some things may change, but: i fixed our own toilet; finally found 1/4 role of toilet paper hidden behind bathroom window curtain which was hiding very damaged blinds...if you're... I wasn't expecting a lot from this place but it was an awful experience. One room had 4-5 20 ft windows and there were no curtains and the a/c didn't work. Moved rooms.. Still no a/c. Another room blew a breaker which meant no a/c or TV. It was over 4 hours before it was fixed. No ice. Terrible bed.i... More

Staying in Garden District

Neighborhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
