The pictures on Expedia made the Hotel look charming and the History of the place sounded cool. Upon walking in to register the first thing I noticed was it was extremely hot in the lobby, if you can call it that. When we got to the room it was not a King Room and the window unit air conditioner did... more

After reading the mixed reviews, stayed anyway -decided some folks just like to complain...so paid in advance (in cash) to avoid any credit card issues. The draw was the fact of this being a historical site and it was also the Cheapest place I could find (1/2 price of major hotel) and after reading reviews, I had very low expectations,... more

This is one of the last truly historical New Orleans hotels in operation today. In its ~150-year history, it’s been an orphanage for the childhood causalities of the Civil War, a sanctuary for unwed mothers, a shelter for flood victims, and now it’s a rare chance for visitors to join the warm neighborhood community during their stay in the city.... more

My wife and I stayed here during our first 'big' vacation in 2005 and decided to come back after a cruise that left out of New Orleans. We booked through a website and had a few complications that we needed to talk with the staff about and they helped every step of the way. Need to book an extra day... more

I stayed with my two children (ages9 and 10) and my mother, step-father, and sister. Private rooms. Bathrooms and beds were clean. We travel a lot- inspected the mattress for bedbugs and there were none. A/c worked well. Warm/friendly staff- kids even got a hug from Wendy (owns the cafe) when we checked out. Food in the cafe was great-vegetarian... more

I stayed at St. Vincents in mid March, 2009. Went with a group of college students to work for a week in the lower ninth ward. I loved St. Vincents, and will definately go back again. The character and charm of the building and staff was so amazing. Our group loved eating breakfast in the Cafe, the food was great,... more

It was the worst hotel ever the room floors were dirty ,the toilet seat had poop on it , the towels were old and torn, the cable was out the stairway had no lights in the night so you had to feel your way up and down to avoid breaking your neck. This place should be condemned it is not... more

None of this was brought to the attention of any staff member or management. We truly are baffled that any guest would choose to stay in the described environment without saying a word.

Don't ever stay here. Everything, I mean EVERYTHING was bad about this place. I stayed there with a church group so we got the Dorm style rooms because there were so many of us. The bunk beds were broken (ie the wood under the top bunks was broken and hanging on some of the beds) Thank God we didn't need... more

St. Vincent's Guest House went above and out of our way to accomodate these guests. This group chose and booked our dorm rooms for their boys and girls. Because they were a church group,we gave an EXTRA discount on top of our already discounted hostel prices. When the guests checked in, there was an issue with the boys dormitory, so...

All of the reviews about St. Vincent's are more or less correct. The structure itself dates to 1861, the year the Civil War began, and while it has a certain charm, it also shows its age. It definitely has character. We stayed for three nights during Essence Fest. Our rooms were clean (no bedbugs, for sure). The saltwater pool was... more
