This hotel needs some help. When I checked in the room had not been cleaned. The hot water in the sink barely worked and the sink did not drain well. The staff was poorly trained and non-responsive. Like another recent review, I had housekeeping walk in on me at 9 am on my day of checkout. If you're looking to... More

The location of the hotel is great. Short walk to Royal Street the Sanger Theater, Ruby Slipper for breakfast and the trolleys are right out front. But also right out front were a lot of homeless people who were begging and shouting...Didn't feel very safe outside the doors of the hotel... Would not bring my children to this hotel. Also... I first stayed here a few years ago and I felt it was a destination hotel. At that time the hotel had very nice accommodations in the middle of everything and it was the reason I returned. Something has changed. When i arrived after driving 12 hours, the valet service was nice but very hectic. One surprise at this time... More

Location: excellent, corner of bourbon and canal. Close to the convention center, riverwalk and all transportation at hand. Pharmacies across the street and traditional fast food restaurants if you want to eat on a budget. Cons: the city is plagued with homeless, drug addicts etc. And seems this is their fave neighborhood which is at times scary. When you see... More

We were very excited to book at the Astor Crowne Plaza using a Groupon ($99/night) since the usual price is closer to $200. The lobby is lovely with sweeping staircase and comfy couches. Check in called us when our room was ready :) That's when the truth came out. The floor in our room was not level (more than 1.5"... More

I once saw an episode of Donald Trump's "Apprentice" in which the two teams had to refurbish hotels in 48 hours and see which team could produce the most / happiest guests. One team got to work scrubbing and spiffing up and updating the place. The other team . . . replaced all the toilets. Of course the decision was... More

We were in town for a wedding, visiting New Orleans for the first time. Chose Astor mainly because of the location not knowing much about the area, being first timers. We arrived around 5pm and first impression was a bit scary outside of the hotel. Lots of homeless people yelling and even small children peddling stuff. I know this isn't... More

When we arrived at the Crowne Plaza, we were excited. The location was great (although the stretch on Canal can be a little sketchy at night), and our room was beautiful. A big comfortable bed, high ceiling, and huge windows. This is where anything remotely resembling a positive ended. This hotel (at least in our room) offers no noise protection... More

This hotel costs $450 for two nights. It's very nice inside but there are beggars everywhere located right outside the hotel doors. It costs $38/day to park your car, which is not optional. There's no breakfast included. Housekeeping knocked on our door several times at 8:30am.

Lovely hotel in a great location. Shenita at the front desk made check in a breeze. Great choice for a business or vacation trip because the hotel is pleasant and the staff is excellent. I look forward to bringing my family here for vacation.
