You can't go wrong with Le Richelieu. It's close to everything but far enough away so that you can get a good night's sleep. It's safe and it's easy to walk to and from the quarter. This hotel was charming. The pictures do not do it justice. The rooms are quaint, but spotless and they don't have the sterile feel of a chain hotel. Despite the cleaning crew thinking a torn paper bag with snacks and book in it were trash we had a wonderful time at Le Richelieu. Friendly. Helpful. Relaxed. All this with the only free parking hotel in the area. On the edge of the quarter but close enough. Come stay for a nice visit with the owner setting at the bar. Not 2009 new but rooms look fresh. We will return. more

I've stayed in lots of hotels in New Orleans, and I found that this one was the best location and deal for me so far. It's on a quiet residential section of Chartres Street.
