My daughter and I enjoyed every minute of our stay at the Sunburst Inn. We were greeted promptly by one of the very friendly owners who offered suggestions on places to visit during our stay. After both of our hectic schedules leading up to our getaway it was a delight to have found such a cozy and home like atmosphere... More

My partner and I stayed at the Sunburst Inn several years ago and still talk about it whenever we speak about our time in New Orleans. It's a cute and quiet bed and breakfast in a great area of town, walking distance from the French Quarter and surrounded by cute restaurants and cafes. If and when we visit New Orleans... More

We found this gem by chance ... and boy were we lucky. This lovely little Inn is located in the Marigny neighbourhood just walking distance from the river front, waterfront trails, the river front streetcar, French Quarter, a number of great restaurants. The rooms boast 14" memory foam mattresses that offer a very comfortable and full night's sleep. Licensed with... More

We found the Sunburst Inn, and hosts Darrell and Glenn, to be charming. The house is over 100 years old and the woodwork might be described as distressed but it is deliberately so and all part of that charm. Meanwhile, the downstairs King Suite in which we stayed for 5 nights had an exceptionally comfortable bed, a very attractive Art... More

Nice quiet inn and a great location. Only a 5 minute walk to Frenchmen street and all the great music it provides. Nice coffee shop on the corner. Darrell also recommendated a great breakfast restaurant just a few blocks away. The neighbour appears to be very safe and no problems walking to Frenchmen Street or the French Quarter. We had... Spent 5 days here recently and could not have been happier with my choice. I had the front room with the separate parlor and the bathroom with the "car wash" shower. It was extremely comfortable and had every amenity you could ever need for a stay. Having morning coffee on the front verandah is worth the price of admission! The... More

My husband and I really enjoyed staying here when we visited. I had stayed in the Marigny before, so I knew a little bit of the area. The walk isn't too bad to the French Quarter, the nearby eateries are super good, and Glenn and Darryl are very friendly and easy going. We stayed in the front room, which was... More

Thanks Darrell and Glenn for the cozy refuge from the NO craziness. Everything you need is a quick walk-music, food, streetcar. We really enjoyed the hot tub after walking around all day. Thanks to Glenn's tip about the spring special, we had such a nice lunch at Antoines. Three courses for $20.15 and 25 cent martinis! Can we come back???

Great stay! Owners were great, rooms Were well taken care of us, 4 of us stayed in the downstairs large room which separates. Perfect for us (two couples). Location was great, do not worry about safety. Bourbon street 10x more of a "worry" than this street. Same as any big city, be safe at night...maybe take a cab and don't... More

We've stayed here both times we went to New Orelans, and can't think of a better place. The hosts are wonderful and have great suggestions for what to see and do in the city. The location is perfect, close enough to everything, but quiet as well. We'll plan on staying here everytime we visit NOLA.

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighborhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
