Beautiful place to stay, along with great walking distance to Frenchmen st. and French Quarter! I was very pleased with the service and cleanliness. The vintage house is well kept and makes for a relaxing weekend getaway. I will be returning again soon! Ruth and Karin were such a delight! Thank you for making my stay fabulous!

Wanted to stay close to the French Quarter, without the madness of Bourbon street. This location is excellent, 2 blocks off Bourban at the east end, and 2 blocks from Frenchman street. Service and amenities excellent. Nothing fancy for breakfast, but it fit the bill. Street noise a bit loud from the late night revelers walking by, but hey, you're... More

We stayed in the Enchanted cottage at the guest house/B&B. Although just a few blocks from both Bourbon street action, the french market and Frenchman street. It felt secluded and quiet with lush outdoor patios. Ruth is a wonderful host and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

My family gathers in New Orleans once a year and we have stayed at many hotels, usually nearer the stadium, over the years. This year we were a smaller group and decided we wanted to experience the Faubourg Marigny area but wanted to be near to the Quarter. We looked at several places before deciding on the Lanaux (which is... More

We had a splendid time staying in the Johnson Suite (named for the original owner) on the third floor of the Mansion ... Private entrance up 3 narrow but not difficult flights of stairs, spacious living room, cozy bedroom and great kitchen (okay, older bathroom with tub and shower). AC was great but the internet connection is spotty ... works... More

My husband and I stayed at the Lanaux Mansion B&B for our anniversary and enjoyed this bed and breakfast. We stayed in the Lanaux Suite which had it's own little kitchen and a nice view of the garden. Fresh pastries and milk/OJ were provided in the refrigerator every morning and there was a little patio to walk out on to... More

This review is long overdue. My boyfriend and I stayed at Lanaux Mansion this past September to celebrate my birthday. We booked the Weiland Room, and it was just the perfect amount of space for the two of us. Ruth is the sweetest lady we've ever met - she is such a great hostess. She was so communicative with us,... This was our second visit. Still magical and memorable. Brought our son to introduce him to this great city. Ruth, thank you for always making us feel special. The restaurant recommendations were excellent!

The weekend that we spent with Ruth at Lanaux Mansion was perfect in every way. Our room was spotlessly cleaned, yet quaint and charming. Ms. Ruth is very hospitable, and went out of our way to make sure that we had everything we needed. The home is truly a historical gem, and we will definitely plan to stay there again!

Thats Lanaux Mansion and dear Ruth. Here is a home away from home. We stayed in the big downstairs room and it had everything we needed. Ruth made a point of finding out our very un American breakfast tastes were and provided for those. We had five happy days here. Irenes Restaurant, Jazz at Snug Harbour, and dancing at the... More

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighborhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
