Yes, the mansions are old, but that is what makes them so special! The rooms are beautifully appointed and comfortable. We stay here every time we come to New Orleans. Their safe location is also a great bonus. The walk to the French Quarter is not bad at all, I'd much rather walk than try to find parking in the... More

When I made the reservation (4months before the trip) I understood it would be a room in a B&B so I knew there would probably be stairs. When we got there , after dark, we had been left a note telling us we had been upgraded to a Balcony room. Now that is nice in some places but OMG these... More

Second visit to Rathbone Mansions (first was 3 years ago) and it seems a little run down. We stayed in the house across the street and were 'upgraded' to the Saints/NFL room. It was large, comfortable, but a little dilapidated. We had a balcony but daren't use it for fear of falling through the floor! However, it's in a good... More

We decided to stay different than our normal New Orleans hotels so we decided on Rathbone and it was a nice experience. The best part was breakfast each morning...Tonya (I believe it was) who served us, she was the most delightful, happy person I've ever come across traveling. It was a joy seeing her every morning & enjoying her wonderful... More

My friend and I stayed here a few weekends ago and we ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! While the showers were small, everything else was great. I think people are just being picky and are too used to hotels like the Hilton. If you want a nice, homey stay, then stay here. The staff is awesome and so is breakfast. I recommend... More

This is a delayed review but have been wanting to do this. Well...accommodations were ok. The shower was tiny and nowhere in the bathroom to put anything. However, half way through the stay we smelt a natural gas smell one night. So my husband goes down to the pool where the "manager" is having a party. He proceeds to tell... More

The homes were built in 1846 and 1850, and with our humidity in New Orleans that may explain your husbands sneezing, can't say for sure. And yes you are right the showers are small. Sorry we were not for you, as I say you can't please everyone. As for the house you were in not being the picture on the... More

My best friend and I flew to New Orleans, just coming out of a long Canadian winter, with the mindset of wanting to immerse ourselves in the heat and the culture. And with the help of a couple Rathbone regulars and the amazing staff, especially Pat and Tonya, it was easy. The rooms are quaint and breakfast was always spectacular.... More

My husband and I stayed there for a week on our honeymoon. The mansion has an unique and antique feel. The ladies that make the breakfast in the morning were extremely friendly and welcoming. I didn't feel unsafe in the area the whole time we were there as the previous reviewer had felt and we walked to and from the... More

The Rathbone Mansion is like a grand old lady, wearing a little too much makeup, but still a beauty. If you are looking for an affordable B&B close to the French Quarter, but don’t expect a lot of extras, the Rathbone is the place to stay. A friend and I went to Louisiana for a ghost hunt, and decided to... More
