Karen is amazing! The room was so comfortable, and the location is steps to Frenchman street, French quarter, Esplanade. It was a homey neighborhood around the corner from music, restaurants and the French market. We rented a car and parking was never a problem. Karen gave us indispensable advice about events and history. We cannot wait to return!

Couldn't have been nicer. Beautifully restored B&B. Karen was a great hostess and gave us a lot of tips. Our room was small but it's an old house with a lot of personality. The location is perfect, right off the French Quarter and blocks from Frenchman St. We would definitely stay there again.

Located just outside of the French Quarter and it takes only less than five minutes to enter the French Quarter. The room was nice and cozy. We had muffins, cakes, biscotti, bananas, chicory coffee/tea/orange juice for breakfast in the room. The owner of the place, Karen Jeffries, was so kind and helpful, she got us a map with interesting places... More

Karen was awesome. She did everything to make our stay here comfortable. From a very detailed intro to New Orleans, a breakfast basket (and coffee, tea and orange juice) and even printing out our boarding passes for us, she was the best. The house is located close enough to the French quarter that we were able to walk there every... More

Our trip was atypical, because shortly before our departure to NOLA, our hostess Karen advised us that she'd had a family emergency, she'd been called out of town, and that we would be greeted on our arrival by Matt, a neighbor. We were sorry to ear the bad news, but decided to proceed. Sure enough, on our arrival Matt was... More

We loved to stay at the Dauphine house, the room was perfect, really romantic, just gorgeous. Karen the owner was such a sweet person, giving us a lot of tips and directions for our stay in New Orleans. My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights, May 2015. Even before we arrived, Karen was really helpful, providing advice for transportation from the airport and going out of her way to be at the property when we arrived. We stayed in 'Ingenue' which was a very comfortable room with a huge bathroom and great shower. The location of... More

We had such an enjoyable stay at Dauphine House in the Marigny district, right next to the French Quarter. We stayed in the ground floor room at the back of the house--in the "peacock room" as some people have called it. It has a kind of funky glamour, like a gilded boudoir with a hint of bordello. Sort of like... More

We arrived late on a Sunday night and it was wonderful to see Karen’s smiling face when we arrived. We were very impressed with our room, the bedroom was a reasonable size, beautifully decorated. The bathroom was such a delight – very roomy and styled perfectly. Karen provided loads of useful information and recommendations on the local area. She also... More

I bought the house almost 19 years ago, with the intention of turning it into a B&B. I was so lucky to find this lovely little home in such a great location just 2 blocks from Frenchmen Street and 2 blocks from the French Quarter. As time has gone by, Frenchmen Street has truly flourished. It's such a great sampling... More

Staying in Faubourg Marigny & Bywater

Neighborhood Profile
Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny & Bywater.
