i stayed at the Marquette for two nights. Everything except reception was VERY DIRTY, I was given two flat sheets for the bed, not even a fitted sheet (don't worry, that's just the beginning). The air conditioner literally rotted out of the windowsill my first night there (there was literally a HOLE in the second floor story wall). The place... More

Stayed there for Mardi Gras for two nights because all the other hostels were full. Prices were higher than usual (as anywhere in NOLA during that time of year). The building looks good from the outside but the inside is quite disappointing. Bathrooms were particularly dirty, and there were only two showers for a dorm of 18... There were two... More

I stayed at Marquette House for one night because all the other hostels in New Orleans were booked. If I was in that situation again, I might be tempted to blow the budget and stay in a hotel. I suspect this might once have been a decent place, but it's now well past its peak, catering more to long-term guests... More

I stayed here for 2 nights because the reputable hostels were booked. Though the location was ideal (garden district), everything else was sub par. They really need to clean the place up! Also, the staff should be a little more friendly.

We went to this hostel having read all the awful reviews of it as everywhere else we tried was full up. Though we arrived at 12ish but the office was shut until 5pm we were a little bit worried if we'd perhaps end up having trouble finding somewhere to sleep that night but fortunately they have a massive car park... wifi only works infront of the hostel and across the street, it doesn't work anywhere IN the hostel! I stayed in a room where people from at least 3 other rooms had to cut through to go to the bathroom which was next to our room without a door seperating these rooms. unfriendly staff at front desk, cealing above my... This place was horrible and so overpriced Dont ever go. We have been travelling as backpackers and stayed at hostels for 4 months now and this is the worst. It's dirty, smelly and full of BEDBUGS! We even got moved to another room and there were also bedbugs. The whole hostel is inflated. Furthermore the manager blamed the bedbugs on... More

This place is a rat's nest. The bunks are incredibly uncomfortable and mine was so high up I thought that I would roll over and fall while I was sleeping. Some of the rooms had carpet but mine had hard floor...I wonder if anyone really hurt themselves in these dorms. Also the toilets aren't the best and they take a... More

It's not exquisite, but it's not terrible. The building is just really old, like most of the city. There are stains on the linens that indicate bedbugs may have once lived here, which was kind of creepy, but there absolutely no signs of bedbugs currently (10/2013), and I checked for them several times after reading previous reviews. Despite stains, the... More

I checked into this place without having done much research. Arrived straight from the airport and immediately got terrible vibes from the building (falling apart) and locale - which seemed like the wrong area to start off a visit in NOLA with no local knowledge. The man at the desk was creepy and unhelpful. I wandered past a dozen men... More
