i had stayed at marquette house about 4 times a few years ago, unfortunately new orleans is still suffering the affects of katrina and the hostel has gone downhill. we had booked dorms but after a long flight we asked for one of the private rooms. the room stunk, was filthy and not very secure. the next day we moved... more

Definetely get off the trolley and walk parallel to St. Charles ave on Prytania st. Great advice given. Check out a cool coffeehouse called "Still Perkin" on Prytania. It isn't easy to find a place to sit and relax in the garden district, as it is primarily residential. So that coffeehouse is a good idea. If you need to travel... more

Recently we stayed at the Marquette House New Orleans International Hostel. Wow what a bargain and the hosts we very nice. I especially loved their garden-patio areas. I saw many unusual birds fly in to sip from the many fountains. Great family place. more
