Generally a nice, charming place to stay, but I have one major issue -- the pool is heated in the summer!!!! Now, yes, a heated pool is a very nice thing on a cool or chilly spring or autumn day, but in a scorching and humid New Orleans summer you want a COLD pool!!!!

Thank you for your kind review and notes about the pool. We look forward to hosting you again soon! Mark More

The hotel looks very different from the pictures. The rooms are tiny. I went for my anniversary and was embarrassed when I opened the door and showed my wife the room. It wasn't clean and there was a door connecting the room next door that was as thin as a closet door. We had to transfer rooms because the light... More

Hello and thank you for writing. We apologize that your stay was below satisfactory as we strive to offer excellent accommodations in New Orleans's premier historic district. In renovating rooms for modern comfort we do as much as we can to preserve and maintain our building's historic integrity, and for this reason our petite queen rooms are petite. We greatly... More

I wanted to love this place so much because of the location, character and cute courtyard/pool but the three live roaches we saw in our bathroom ruined it for me. Not to mention the smell of the rooms, uncomfortable beds and tiny bathroom. The parking was terrible and the hot tub was cold.

H2188WEjamiec, Sorry you didn't have a nice experience. Thanks so much for writing. We've heard the bit about parking before but see no reason to destroy 180 year old property to accommodate SUV's. As to your other complaints I have to say that our reviews in genera would not support your conclusions. You could try another of our properties, The... More

If you're looking for a hotel that looks like you would think New Orleans should look like then this is the place for you. The staff is fabulous. However we went during the second week of August and it was very very hot. Loved the hotel loved the pool the staff was fabulous.

hopessjh306, August is a rough month. That's why rooms run a little less expensive. One doesn't spend much time outside though usually. We couldn't be happier that you had a good experience with the hotel. Thank you writing to say so. Do come again when the weather might be more to your liking. chuc More

The Frenchmen hotel was a great stay for my girlfriend and I. We booked 5 nights back in February 2015 and had no problem when we arrived. The location was amazing, being right on Frenchman St. You can't beat it. John and Mark the receptionists were amazing and helped us with our accommodations. We loved how they always had water... Have stayed in several places in NOLA in the past but going forward The Frenchmen Hotel will be the only will stay. The location, price, and hospitality were perfect. Right by the streetcar stop, the music and food of Frenchmen Street and walking distance to rest of the quarter.

Thinking back on this hotel, the first thing that comes to mind is the bathroom. It was so small we took a picture! Literally a toilet, sink and shower in what appeared to be a converted closet. Similarly, the room was just large enough for the bed and a dresser. For us, this was all just fine -- who comes... More

PB_travelers, It sounds as though you took one of the budget rooms, which are small and we do caution people that we are a converted 19th century home, which means most buildings didn't originally have indoor plumbing. Couldn't be happier to hear that you'll be coming to see us again. Thank you so much for writing. More

1)The toilet rocked because it was not sealed to the floor. 2) The towel shelf above the toilet was broken and the clean towels fell into the bowl twice during our stay. 3) The shower curtain was too short and flooded the bathroom floor. 4) Found half empty quart glass water bottle under the bed. 5) The door lock was... Paul, Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience. I certainly hope that you spoke to someone about each of these issues as you encountered them so that they might have been fixed for your. You will note of course from our other reviews that this not a common experience for our guests. I'm sure that should you decide... More

This is a beautiful property, Clean, nice room, well stocked, very conveniently placed ice and soda machine. The common area is beautiful with free coffee and tea 24/7, and they offer a free breakfast every morning with pastries, milk, juice, fresh fruit, and much more. The staff was ever present, and they were all super helpful and friendly. Again, they... More

Scramily, We cannot thank you enough for this wonderfully written review. It seems you very much understand the nature of charm and THAT is wonderful to hear. Many of those you mention do end up in those 40 story establishments and that does make them happy and good for them. We're so happy that you care about the city and... More

Driving and parking in the French Quarter is tedious, especially for us visitors who don't know our way around New Orleans very well. Our stay at the Frenchmen Hotel put us a short walk from the Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro where we heard a fabulous performance by the Stanton Moore Trio. The Frenchmen Hotel is right in the heart of... Rene, Thank you so much for writing. We so appreciate it and are happy that you bring up the parking which so many seem to focus on. It must seem odd to people who live in the suburbs or cities in which the old horse and buggy carriage ways have tragically been destroyed. We do have 2 very large gated... More
