Very charming and a nice location. We were in room 14 which is on the ground floor across from the office/check-in. I don't believe the room above us had carpeting since we heard footsteps walking and luggage rolling every morning. We were able to hear every word being spoken and the TV from the room above. It was only a... more

I recently stayed at the Soniat House to celebrate an anniversary with my husband. While the location is great, I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. I have traveled for 18 years and stayed on both US coasts, Canada, Hawaii and Europe. So, I think I have a good base of knowledge on the subject to say this hotel... more

I almost did not stay at Hotel Soniat due to the negative reviews on this site. Admittedly, Hotel Soniat is not for someone who is solely interested in luxury hotel criteria. Other hotels, near the same expense, will fill this niche better. The hotel has definite quirks much like the city itself. Yet, the biscuits in the morning on the... more

My husband and I love New Orleans. We like the fact that there are many B&B and small hotels to choose from and I always check with TripAdvisor. This time we chose to stay at the Soniat House. The old carriage house is very welcoming and the courtyard at night is magical with all the candles. New Orleans to me... more

I stayed in room 64 and loved it. The hotel is essentially three historic homes (late 18th, early 19th century). Our room took up half the second floor of the home across the street from check-in. It was fantastic! Huge sitting room with a balcony, gorgeous marble bathroom and a beautiful bedroom. Very clean. Everything was perfect! The hotel is... more

The hotel was nice.people are forgetting about how old this place is,its a historic place.duh.so its not going to be state-of-the-art place.but the front desk is nice(Irvin,Linda). But i also enjoy talking to Joshua the Porter. He was very insightful in topics.he gave great service.but overall i give this place a A+. more

This place was so overrated and overpriced. The quality of Motel 6, but 10 times the price. Don't be fooled by their website: It is NOT a charming boutique hotel with beautiful furnishings. Rather it was a run-down place with very little charm or service. The room was musty, dirty, dark, and had very little character - evidently no updating... more

"I want a room that when I open the door, makes me say 'Ahhhhhh'." Those are the words I put in my reservation request to the Soniat House. They did not let me down. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite (#52) which is located off a lovely French Quarter courtyard across the street from the main part of the... more

Stayed here for a weekend in a suite (#52) which is in the building across the street (next to their antiques store)- you go through a locked gate into what is essentially your private courtyard (saw only one other couple out there the whole time). Our room was beautiful and spacious. There are doors from the living room and the... more

The Soniat House is a small and beautfiful, privately owned hotel. The location is superb; the hotel is cosy and nice; the staff and the service is excellent! With this said... it is obvious that the former splendour of this hotel is not there anymore. It seems to be a bit on decay (paint falling of the walls, bathrooms etc).... more
