The front desk service was very friendly and it's a very laid back place. It's an old hotel and its funkiness gives it charm. There is an outdoor courtyard that is really welcoming and fun. The room was fine, but could use a little love and be cleaner. I caught a glimpse of the rooms on the upper floors and... More

I'm still here, sitting in the hotel as I type, but I had to make sure I posted this before I get back home and go back to "real life". So, yesterday we arrived. I had booked a room at Villa Convento for 3 nights through Booking.com. I happened to look at my flight details during travel and realized I... More

Nice little hotel, not luxury at all but perfectly situated to explore the French quarter. Great service and friendly, helpful staff. Reasonable rates, clean and interior room doors make you feel safe. We would stay here again without hesitation and plan on doing so.

We wanted some place in the heart of the French Quarter to allow for easy access there. We wanted some place historic, with an authentic feel. This place fit the bill. We fell in love with it immediately. I've read the one star reviews, so let me address some of those thing here: Parking: It's the French Quarter. You're going... More

Okay people, if you want to stay at the W with down comforters and granite counter tops, DO NOT STAY HERE! If you want a TRUE New Orleans French Quarter experience with a wonderful desk staff then ABSOLUTELY stay here. I've read the negative reviews on here, and I want to ask them why they are even in New Orleans?... More

This old hotel was reputed to be a boarding house and the location of the House of the Rising Sun. (Also maybe not.). It is on a quiet street (yep, quiet) in the heart of the French Quarter. Staff is friendly- rooms are old, small and clean - in short, lots of character. There is a parking garage a few... More

We recently enjoyed our 3-night stay at the Hotel Villa Convento. The staff was very friendly and professional. The hotel has an overall cozy, warm feel. It is located close to the French Market and all the Bourbon Street action but located on a nice quiet street. It could use some updating as our dresser drawers were broken and overall... More

We loved our comfy, quaint, charming room and our balcony! Hotel Villa Convento is close enough to be an easy walk to Bourbon St, and far enough from Bourbon St. that it's quiet at night/early morning. It is also directly across the street from Croissant D'Or - a wonderful French Pattisserie where I snuck out for coffee and croissants early... More

I decided to book this hotel based on generally good reviews and because it was in a good location based upon what I wanted to do while in NOLA. Even though I had a "budget" room, it wasn't worth the money. The carpeting was extremely dirty. The two vinyl chairs were dirty. The end table drawers and dresser drawers had... More

We stayed here for 3 nights and were pleased with the location. We walked all over the city and this was a great starting point. The rooms a small and a little tired but the balcony gave us the extra space we needed. The front desk was very helpful and friendly. Good value for he location.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
