We enjoyed our stay at the Intercontinental in New Orleans. The positives were the excellent location in the middle of the city and the way in which an issue we raised was resolved by the staff (the noise from the laundry was annoying and we were instantly offered a better room with a view of the Main Street) They also... I really enjoyed my stay here. I don;t usually go to the high priced hotels, but wanted to treat myself to a relaxing stay in a scrumptious room. The InterContinental New Orleans did not disappoint. My room was comfortable, had a nice city view and was quiet. I ate once in Pete's for breakfast they have a nice buffet. And... More

The hotel was very nice but the rooms was just a standard hotel room. The service was very disappointing. The front desk was not helpful at all and the concierge was a waste of time. They could have just put brochures at the front desk and it would have serve that purpose. This was my first trip to New Orleans... More

When my husband and I decided on a last minute trip to New Orleans for New Years we really scored by staying at the Intercontinental! We called two days prior to our stay and spoke with George with the concierge staff. He was not only able to score us an amazing reservation at Delmonicos Steak House, he made it happen... More

Our room was very comfortable, and well-appointed, if slightly dated. The location is pretty out-of-the way unless you're specifically doing business in this area of town. The service in this hotel is pretty sub-par. We had one concierge help us with reservations, but other than that we were shot down at every turn. Biggest disappointment was that we had the... More

The New Orleans InterContinental hotel is near most of the New Orleans riverside and French Quarter attractions...on a quiet side street. A great value for the $100/nte we "snagged" from HOTWIRE.COM. Entry to the property is a bit tight and limited, the lobby shows a bit of use, but is clean, secure and inviting. The real surprise is the quality... More

First of all, the location was awesome. We were there for a class reunion and it just happened to be the first weekend of mardi gras. We we're able to walk the destination of our event and see a parade at the same time. The staff from top to bottom was helpful and went above and beyond to make sure... More

Booked three rooms for family during the first weekend of Mardi Gras to celebrate my 60th birthday! Great location for parades and quick walk or Uber to French Quarter, and Uptown. The rooms were nicely appointed and we especially enjoyed the balcony rooms! It was fun to be outside and enjoy the sounds of the parades! Staff was friendly and... More

My husband and I traveled to New Orleans for a friend's wedding, this past MLK weekend. We stayed at the Intercontinental on St. Charles, and took advantage of the wedding rate staying for 3 nights. Whenever I book a reservation anywhere, I always request a room on an upper floor, away from the ice machines and elevators, this was no... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
