I literally found this while driving around frustrated with the usual Chesterton Dunes area hotels that are either overpriced, overbooked, minimally hospitable staff and surrounded by noisy civilization. But not the Spring House Inn. Starting with the front desk staff who were incredibly outgoing and proud of the place rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable, unbelievably reasonably priced there was a... More

I stayed at The Spring House Inn over NYE. I was pleasantly surprised by the property. The rooms were very clean, the staff was so kind, and overall I enjoyed my stay. The rooms do need an update, however, I did ask and it seems the property is under new management and they are already starting updates and renovations, so... More

My husband and I stayed at the Spring House Inn for three nights. Established in 1990, the hotel has the look of a much older hotel. It could be charming if it was updated and more attention was paid to the stains on the rugs and the general air of mustiness about the place. The staff was super -- friendly,... More

Pros: Quiet, in a woodsy setting, and away from the Railroad Tracks, Toll Road, and Interstate. In this area close to Chicago, it can be hard to find a place away from the railroad tracks, but this is one that is. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The beds were clean and comfortable. The wi-fi worked well. So-so: Average... More

I do not understand why this place isn't packed every night. This is a beautiful spot for a get away. I have stayed here many times over the past 20 years. The staff have always been friendly, the room are clean and nicely furnished. The setting, however, is what makes this place a gem. It is just minutes off I-94,... More

I've been staying at the Spring House Inn for over 10 years. It used to feel like a classic, fresh, warm and inviting Inn, but unfortunately has deteriorated to the quality of an abandoned antique shop (nothing appears to have been renovated, including the carpeting, doors, bedding, bathrooms, etc.) - all in all felt a bit unsanitary, musty and outdated,... Thank you to those who reviewed this beautiful hotel earlier, and made this an obvious choice for my visit to the Sand Dunes to celebrate my fourth anniversary with my fella. The wallpaper, wood flooring/molding, and light fixtures were beautifully restored and made this economical hotel seem very regal and full of charm. The location was excellent and only three... This was my second stay at this pleasant independent hotel. The first stay was probably 12 years ago and while there has been some upgrades such as flat screen TV, microwave and refrigerators in the room and a new breakfast area, not much else has changed. Yes, the hotel is a bit dated but the rates are reasonable making this... More

I've stayed here in the past, but this last experience will be the end. It's not the facility, but the lack of courtesy of the staff -- and that is an understatement. I arrived around 9 pm for a one-night stay, only to be told that the system could not process my credit card because it was "busy". I was... More
