Accommodations are quite expensive in Madison but the room in which we stayed was not in any way worth the $175.00 nightly rate. There were two chairs and a desk but only one lamp making it impossible for more than one person to read. The T.V. was situated so that you would have had to perch on the end of... More

Just stayed here for the first time, after driving by for twenty years thinking, " I should stay there sometime!" Do not wait twenty years! We reserved and stayed in the Aldo Leopold room, filled with a charming, although a bit squeaky in an old fashioned sort of way due presumably to the wooden bed frame, canopy bed covered in... More

Each summer, our extended family takes a weekend vacation together. Three couples, no children. This year we decided to explore Madison, WI. Arbor house is a wonderfully quiet oasis, right in the heart of the city. It sits just outside the U of W arboretum. It is very close to both the University, and the Capitol. We stayed in the... My wife and I stayed here July 2014... in the "Tap Room." The place was amazing.... right across the street from the Arboretum. If you are a bird lover like myself you couldn't be in a better location. Walking distance from great food/shopping... The owner also offered free canoeing. The best part was the delightful breakfast/conversation. Comfy bed.. beautiful interior..... More

The Arbor House provides a quite retreat from bustling action of the UW-Madison Campus. We have stayed several times throughout the past 7 years and plan to continue our visits. The perks include tasty breakfasts, happy hour and lots of space to relax without being pestered by staff. The environmental focus of the inn is an added benefit to the... More

Great concept but toilets that don't flush the paper, woefully inadequate air conditioning, and a poorly designed bathroom don't make for a pleasant stay. The staff was pleasant, and the treats and breakfast were delicious, but we prefer inns where the owners are present and engage with guests.

We are so very sorry you didn't enjoy your stay at Arbor House. We do make thousands of people happy each year and even during your stay, the comments and feedback were extremely positive. That said, we noted the central air conditioning was running non-stop in the Plough Inn building and we arranged for a service technician to come out... More

I stayed here for two nights while attending a conference. My main regret was not having more time to spend in the Inn. It is a beautiful setting - wonderful walks and views all around - and my room was lovely, comfortable and quiet. Check in and check in were easy and the breakfast was outstanding. The innkeepers handled my... More

We were in town only for one night to attend a friend's wedding. When my husband asked me where I wanted to stay, I told him to surprise me. That he did. This fantastic, eco-friendly bed and breakfast was romantic, affordable, and just what I needed after staying in so many cookie-cutter hotels the past few years. We were delighted... More

Two of us enjoyed the uniqueness of The Arbor House in very cold February. When we arrived, a fire was roaring, complete with wine and cheese/fruit snacks. We enjoyed watching the sunset over the Arboretum from the very large great room windows. Ample tea was available 24 hours per day, as well as helpful fliers for local restaurants, businesses, etc.... More

My daughter goes to college in Madison & I came upon the Arbor House when I asked my GPS to guide me to the closest hotels, I have been staying at the more commercial places which are more expensive and not as convenient. I had driven by the Arbor House many times and did not notice that it was an... More
