Hotel Ruby Marie is an old railroad hotel that is now part of hotel/restaurant/bar combination that includes the Up North Bar, Essen Haus and Come Back In restaurants, and the Lakeview Bakery & Deli. The hotel is a beautiful old red brick building with lovely views of Lake Monona and within walking distance of the Capital Square and State Street.... More

Excellent acomodations in an old time setting. Very friendly staff. Clean rooms. Rates are a little high but comparable to other hotels in Madison. Room rates include 2 free drinks in the bar and 2 free breakfasts from the menu at The Come Back In bar and restaurant. Within walking distance of many venues including the Capital, State St. About... More

I'm not even going to give a star for this place, nice looking hotel, but that is where it ends. Turns out that there are trains that run right out side my window, had I been given the courtesy and respect of a potential guest, I feel this should have been disclosed as I would have asked for a room... First of all this is a great job of restoration in an area that needs redeveloping. The amenities at this hotel are totally upgraded, the décor is 19th century and the staff is eager to assist you. Rooms are clean, well appointed and equipped with modern facilities. Down side, parking is "iffy" as their parking lot is open to the... More

We stayed at Hotel Ruby Marie for one night and had a wonderful stay. We went for a romantic get away....and this hotel fit the bill! We had a beautiful king room with a sitting area, fireplace and jacuzzi tub. And...we didn't see a single child in the building! :) We were given two free drinks at the bar downstairs,... More

Nice hotel and very friendly staff, especially Travis in the bakery downstairs. This hotel is an easy walk to the downtown and capital area. The only downside is the train horn that blows at 7:30 am! There is a lively bar in the ground floor with a cast of local madison characters.

The rooms our group stayed in were large. It is a vintage hotel, but has been well maintained. It exudes a classic quality you just don't find in a more modern building. The staff treated our group well. You're near the lake, the train tracks, plenty of shops and restaurants, and a bike/walking trail. Luckily the train doesn't go by... More

For several reasons, staying at the Ruby Marie felt great. One was the satisfaction of supporting a local outfit. Beyond that were several other pleasures. One, the hotel was totally lovely, quirky, fun, reasonably priced. People were friendly, and the place was cozy and tastefully done. Two, location! Right on the lake, and across the street from one of Madison's... More

The hotel is old and kept up pretty well, although they could clean a little better. I don't they have a crevice tool to use when vacuuming. We stayed 2 nights and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We would stay again.

The hotel had a older classic look and feel. It seemed a little worn around the edges, but not too bad, and was very clean. Access to the hotel was only through an elevator that could be entered either through the back by the parking lot or through the Up North bar, which was located below the hotel. Desk staff... More
