We stopped into Kelly Place on a recommendation from a friend. We did not have a reservation, merely wanted to check it out for future visits, either in a cabin or an RV space. We walked into the main building where a woman was cooking. She didn't even acknowledge us. I said hello and she just looked at me. I... More

We chose (and would happily recommend) Kelly Place as the perfect antidote to overly touristy Durango. Fantastic to just laze (in the lounge chatting to the other gests), in the garden suntanning, on the deck after dinner enjoying the starry sky and the local wines), or during one of the activities in the vicinity - the Anasazi ruins start on... When we visited Kelly Place, we walked into the central building where a lady was cooking dinner. She said nothing to us, and we thought she was a "hired hand." We proceeded down the hallway to try and find someone to check in, and there was no one in the office. We sat in the office for ten minutes waiting... More

Thank you for your review and expressing your feelings about Kelly Place. If you arrive prior to check-in time, it it entirely possible that your room will not yet be ready and that the owners may be involved in other tasks, such as cooking dinner for the group that was conducting a program here. I was not aware of your... More

We recently stayed at Kelly Place while touring the Southwest and we assumed it would offer amenities similar to other B+Bs we have stayed at. We were wrong. It started at check in. We went to the unoccupied office and wandered around until we approached the cook in the kitchen to check us in. She ultimately took care of us... More

We thank you for your review and for the review of your spouse. We strongly advise people to read their confirmation email. We know that it can be fatiguing to arrive here and have to return to Cortez for dinner. Our confirmation email states: “Note, we do not have a restaurant on site. If you are traveling through Cortez around... More

We loved Kelly Place it is in a beautiful location and we had the 2 bedroom lodge which was fully equipped for cooking (not that we did that???) Beautifully clean and very comfortable, the view from the rooms and patio are sensational. Breakfast is in the main building and is communal and served by Marc and his staff we stayed... More

Thank you for your extensive and very positive review. We are glad you had such a wonderful time at Kelly Place! We are sorry, however, that the one thing marring your stay became the overwhelming headline for your review. Please note that, when you arrived at 2 PM, I was in the kitchen cooking dinner for the group that was... More

This place is cool because it's on property with Anasazi ruins. They are really cool. You can hike forever here, although we just did a short jaunt. We got the room with a queen and two sets of bunk beds, which was perfect for our for kids. They loved it. They had fun in the room even with no TV,... More

Thank you for your review! We appreciate when guests take the time to give us feedback. We would like to clarify one point: We do charge for "babies" age 3 and over. We do not charge for babies age 2 and younger. I know. We had one guest who insisted her 9-year old was her baby! I don't want to... More

Four of us stayed at Kelly's Place and LOVED it. The setting was absolutely beautiful. We did the self-guided tour of the on-site Indian ruins and trails. The breakfast was delicious and our room was very comfortable. If you want peace and tranquility, this is the place!

This is an older property tucked into a valley just outside of Cortez. There are a few ruins (we didn't see them all; instead went to Mesa Verde) and a kiva and the boys (ages 8 & 11) enjoyed the place. It is wonderfully dark at night. We chose this place for a more local/unique experience, which it is. Great... More

This was our last stop on our 10 day road trip through Colorado. We stayed for two nights but wish we had planned for more time to enjoy this very special place. Mark and Jerene were most gracious hosts; their B&B quite an intriguing place with much history. Situated on about 35 acres down in a beautiful red rock canyon,... More

Thank you so much for your descriptive and wonderful review! Just for your information, we actually do have a deluxe cabin with en suite jetted tub. In fact, en suite just means the bathroom is connected to the bedroom--not down the hall. So all of our bathrooms are "en suite". However, the deluxe cabin has merely 600 threadcount sheets and... The setting of Kelly Place is incredible. It is surrounded by red rocks, bordered by sagebrush and mature trees and red earth. There are a number of on-site Indian ruins that are easy to access by well-marked trails. We have been here for four days in the deluxe cabin, and I don't want to leave. Our friends are with us...
