was riding my bike along the beach today I noticed Barbara's so having read about it on Trip advisor I thought I would give it a try for lunch After sitting down for 10 minutes I went out the back to see if it was open after finding someone was told it was who pointed to a pile of menus... More

Cheap and cheerful, I felt well looked after here. Dorm beds are ok, just the one 6 bed dorm. $5 not including breakfast. Breakfast was yummy, western style available and inexpensive. And the beach is just across the road, excellence! Correct address is not nguyen, but 18? An Durong. Small issue with smoking in the inner area by staff. But... More

Well first the address is wrong. It's at 12 An Duong Vuong. It took me a while to find it. But when I arrived the gates were locked although it was just a bit past 10 pm. The biggest problem with a place that staff watched TV very loud. I was very tired and, hence it didn't bother me in... More

We didn't stay here but oddly enough met a person from our small town who was staying and was happy with it. We had a cheap feed - mine was Vietnamese and good, my partner tried the pizza, which certainly wasn't what you would expect in a Western country. Beer starts at 50c for the local brew. I also did... We didn't stay here just ate at the restaurant, the food was tasty and cheap but small portions and pretty basic. The staff weren't very friendly and the area you sit and eat in is pretty dank with a lot of dust! we kept being asked if we wanted to buy a tour / day trip etc and were only... More

We didn't stay here, but we enjoyed plenty of meals here as it's a great spot for breakfast and or dinner. The menu is western, but if you are craving some fish and chips, good sandwiches etc it is great comfort food and finally somewhere that knows how to make a decent coffee. Starting the day with a plunger of... More

There's a bit of confusion about Barbara's here on Trip Advisor, as the Kiwi Cafe and backpackers moved earlier in 2012, but the site still shows the old address. You'll find the real Barbara's backpackers at 12 An Duong Vuong, just across from the big beach front hotels, The Seagull and Hoang Yen. Sadly Barbara has retired due to some... More

Barbara's has recently undergone a change in management. Barbara herself retired back to NZ due to ill health, which is possibly why the business was suffering over the past few years. The new team are good, they are a family she knew and trained up, and the new manager's name is Loan. I would say come and check it out,... More
