I just cannot explain how happy I was to arrive at this magnificent hotel. it was as beautiful as the Strand In Yangon better than the Raffles , Singapore- the room we had was fabulous over looking the gardens - the staff, the food, the atmosphere just stunning ! we only had 2 nights, but I could have stayed a... We had dinner at the Magnolias. Service was poor, despite being the only table occupied. We had to request side plates and spoons a few times before it was brought over to us. Drinking glass served was smelly and possibly not properly washed. The waiter hastily replaced the drinking glass for us, however, he and his team were taking turns... More

One of the highlights of our Sri Lankan expedition was tea at The Grand Hotel. The table was beautifully set. We weren't disappointed and the cups of tea were endless and deliciously refreshing. Cakes and pastries galore. What more could you ask for in 'Little England'

we had lunch at the Grand Indian and it was really good food and atmosphere is really amazing coz of the nature that surrounds the hotel, cold weather and high altitude is what attacks people here, we had sought in rain then had pop in to the high tea lounge, had some brilliant Ceylon tea experience there, Staff were very... We stayed for two nights and thought it was a complete disappointment. Our room on the 3rd floor was underwhelming. Creaky floor, poor TV reception, lackluster furnishings, no Wifi in the room-actually very limited Wifi in the main gathering areas of the hotel. And even then it was slow to upload or download. Experienced three short power outages in our... More

Its a nice colonial style a kind of a victoria- era mansion. Newely renavated. We had a room at the front end which was rather dated but comfortable. The food was good. The hotel is right in the middle of the town close to victoria gardens. And about a kilometer from the lake where they have boat rides. And about... More

This is a fabulous hotel in a fabulous location, because it's such a short walk to the town of Nuwara Eliya (which is a must see). The grandeur you'd expect in an old colonial building and the attentive and polite staff to match.

December 2015 We arrived at the 'Grand' hotel as part of our trip around Sri Lanka. Upon checking into our rooms we noticed the rooms smelt like urine and they definitely were not the superior rooms we had supposedly booked! We decided to get out of the room and check out the afternoon tea that they are renowned for. We... More

We had an nice two night stay at the Grand at the end of January 2016. The staff are very helpful and friendly and take good care of their guests. Beautiful gardens have some children play area and decorated bushes. Rooms are solid with old furniture. WiFi don't cower all hotel area but it's okay. Bar have snooker room, and... More

If you want a high tea without all the pomp this is a pleasurable experience. I would make reservations since we saw several people turned away even though there were tables available. I don't know if there is a dress code so I would check that also. The grounds of the hotel and the interior are nice but was way... More
