Being one of the top 10% reviewers on Tripadivisor i will really try and be very objective in my review. This is a 200 year old hotel that is worth visiting the gardens and see its old structure. Thats it!!!. We stayed there 1 night last week and the rooms are horrible. Noisy, smelly, the tv is small and old... More

evocative of the British colonial times but a little tired in places. rooms not as spacious as more modern hotels. can get cold at night (12 degrees C). restaurant was quite packed and bars too small to squeeze into. but good location and an opportunity to stroll around the town quite safely

Loved the welcoming atmosphere. Really know how to treat guests. Efficient, well-kept, historic property. Can walk down to the post office, markets, stores. Nice shops in the hotel itself. Great restaurant, though somewhat crowded. Good variety of foods on the buffet. Unfortunately the bar allows smoking -and it was just one big cloud of smoke. The public rooms on the... More

The rooms feel a little dated and the bathrooms even more so, but they are clean and comfortable. The hotel restaurant served a very good range of delicious buffet food (both local and western)for dinner and breakfast. The hotel is well located near to the centre of town and very close to the golf course. As the name suggest, the... More

A change from other hotels on our tour as we headed through the tea plantations to this mansion style hotel in the hill resort. Located in pretty gardens just off the main drag the rooms were nicely furnished. Reception and being shown to our room was efficiently handled, but attempts to get a late lunch were poor. The small restaurant... More

Stayed here one night on a Saga tour of Sri Lanka. It was our wedding anniversary and the hotel provided a surprise anniversary cake in our room that overlooked the golf course. Shared it with our group. From our perspective the room was very comfortable and clean. Staff throughout were excellent. Beautiful location; excellent buffet meal and there is another... More

It's an old hotel with huge ceilings reminding of 1920s . The food is awesome , staff are polite . There is no AC in any rooms but they provide fans if your room gets stuffy . Wifi is only available in the lobby but it gets slow when too many people are using . The bathrooms are average and... More

The best part about our stay here was the weather. Every place we visited was very hot and humid except here. I imagine that it is cool all year round because the hotel rooms did not even have a/c. There was a small portable heater but no fan. We did not need the heater but there were no screens on... More

This hotel had some old world charm. It obviously dated back to the glory of colonial days. Thats about where it ended. It was tired, and badly in need of a revamp. The luggage took over an hour to get to the room. Room service about the same. The signing of chits for every task needed to be handled and rehandled... More

They upgraded us to a Junior exec suite so we had 2 big rooms and nice bathroom. Wood floors and a true type furniture, quaint. Hallways definitely very dated in hotel but main part of hotel very grand and nice grounds. Reminded me a bit of the Empress Hotel in Victoria, BC. The room Only had one TV and it... More
