We had a very enjoyable stay here after a long drive from Kandy. After a very warm welcome we were upgraded to a top floor executive room as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. The hotel structure and layout has been well described by previous reviewers so I won't elaborate. As we arrived in mid afternoon and to make up... More

This is one of the best hotels to stay/visit if you travel to Nuwaraweliya. The view is incredible with green mountains and misty climate. Visited here with family for a day. The welcome was great and food was awesome. The presentation was really nice. Very english-like. Love the old-fashioned elevators, machineries and interior designing. Hotel is very cosy. Loved the... Being English I loved the climate, and I loved the charm of the hotel. It's a very sympathetic use of an old building. Even the elevator is an old one where you have to slide the doors across manually. Just one more thing that adds to the atmosphere. The bathroom in our room wasn't the most luxurious, but considering the... More

Our arrival reception was immaculate with warm greetings and immediate embracement of the culture with some traditional sweets and tea. The hotel was very cosy and comfortable. The rooms were very cosy, clean and homly. View was spectacular, all the surrounding gardens and leisure activities of nature was one of the best experiences ever. Hotel is very remote and overlooking... More

If you go to Nurawa Eliya, this hotel must be your first choice. It is simply incredible – the architecture, the environment, the staff. The concept itself is where the magic really begins; converted from an old tea factory from the visionary Mr. G.C. Wickremasinghe, the essence of the past remains through the décor, machinery and lift system in place... More

What a lovely refurbished building, location location location and great staff and rooms! The buffet for dinner had a great selection of local cuisine, and not bad options for non-local cuisine (although more limited). The bed was uber comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The added touch of a guitarist / singer during dinner was really nice too.

We visited Sri Lanka this year from the 4th July until the 18th July and found the country to be amazing, beautiful and the people very helpful and friendly. Firstly we booked Via Kuoni, it was our first experience of using them and we found their service excellent, we described what we wanted and they delivered exactly that and even... More

A superb building on the top of a hill in the middle of a sprawling tea plantation. Friendly service and the railway car dining experience was entertaining! The room was ever so slightly tired but clean and comfortable & we very much enjoyed our stay.

Terrible road to get to the hotel which is totally not worth the effort. Overhyped, overrated hotel. Gloomy and cramped. To add to matters. Mr Roshan (Assistant mgr front office) was extremely rude. Has an attitude that 'come if u wish, go if u wish'...You are much better off at the The Grand Hotel which we visited prior to coming... More

After winding up a small road from the bustle of Kandy passing the terreced tea and vegetable plot you then arrive to see a tea factory on top of the hill. Inside was great open ceilings and wooden floors, what a great transformation of the old tea factory. Very atmospheric conversion with lovely views around. Staff attentive and makes you... More
