Yes, this is one of the best hotels you can stay in while at Nuwara Eliya. The hotel is located in the middle of tea estates up on the mountains about 6500 ft from the sea level. Positives - well furnished rooms, huge seating area outside the hotel, children's play area, different tours like tea plucking, cycling, pony ride and... More

The Tea Factory is a very special place...from the drive up through the tea plantations to your arrival at the hotel, you feel like you've entered another world compared to the rest of Sri Lanka. Or the Lake District at least (you can expect chilly, breezy, showery weather)! As you enter the hotel, all around you are the vast pieces... More

I like everything but dessert at Tea Factory. The soap given was the BEST I've used in my life. The staff was very friendly and helpful and pleasant. Look forward to visit again and hope they have changed the dessert menu.

As other reviewers have noted, this hotel is well off the beaten track, and takes a long meandering drive up through the highlands to reach. As most people get around Sri Lanka with a local driver( don't even think about driving yourself, you need special skills to negotiate the pot-holed roads and crazy drivers, including the ubiquitous tuk-tuks, who overtake... It took ages to get here but overall it was worth the journey. Its a totally different part of Sri Lanka and very interesting to see the tea pickers and all the plantations on the way there. Its quite a bit cooler too - evidenced by blankets in the rooms! The conversion from tea factory to hotel has been superbly... More

We stayed here after Kandy, having had a leisurely drive up through tea plantations and stopping along the way at Mackwoods tea factory for a tour. It is noticeably cooler at this elevation and definitely needed trousers and jumper as it was cloudy and windy when we arrived. The hotel is an old tea factory in an absolutely stunning setting.... This place is like a magic castle that takes forever to reach but once there you will not be disappointed. The views are mind blowing. Inside the hotel all the old machinery is in working condition. Make sure to see it in action about half 7 at night. Room was brilliant, we were on honeymoon and received a fruit plate... More

We spent a night here and really enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and welcoming after the nine hour drive from Galle. The buffet dinner was excellent. We spent an hour or so in the morning picking tea and learning how it was made. It makes you respect the tamil women who spend all day picking the leaves for a... More

My husband and I stayed at the Tea Factory for 2 nights on our honeymoon in Sri Lanka and can honestly say that this is the most unique hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff and the service were fantastic, from the traditional Sri Lankan greeting on arrival, to the dinner on the railway carriage on our final night.... More

Stayed at the Heritance Tea Factory for a couple of nights during a trip to Sri Lanka. Wonderful atmosphere and a number of great features of the original factory remained. Food was good, more cooking to order than in a number of other hotels but a little too focussed on fish both evenings. Thoroughly enjoyed our tea picking session -... More
