The Hill Club is a delightful location, in the sleepy quint town of Nuwera Eliya. We honestly felt like we stepped back in time to a different era. This property is not perfect; it can appear a little rough around the edges. Yet in a world of star class luxury and modern perfections, the Hill club felt real.....it felt authentic.... More

The Hill Club is not for everyone, but if you happen to be a nostalgic fanatic like me, who has this obsession in all old British colonial things, I assure you that you will love it. For those who think it is pretentious, well, it is NOT. In fact, it is the least-pretentious place that tourists can have access. Formal... More

The hotel grounds are like a piece of old England but that's where it stops for us. The room we had, room 8 (and 9 would be the same ) are facing the kitchen ventilation which is on from before 6am to after 10.30am. It was easy to know what they were cooking as we were smelling it! At first... More

I really liked staying here. The staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for us, the beds were comfortable, the showers were hot and the food was really nice. The hot water bottles in our beds were a delightful touch on a freezing nuwara Eliya night. The building is almost like a living museum and I truly does feel like... More

The drive to the hotel in Nuwara Elya was beautiful . The hotel has a quaint old world charm to it We were upgraded to the beautiful south suite . The room was right out of a Victorian era , all wooden The sad part was the limited spread for vegetarians in their menu for dinner . The other let... More

The club will get you to the old colonial days - we spent there just one night, but it was worth the experience Thanks to Benedict for making it special - he got us in front of the fireplace before and after dinner, booked us the table and took care of us during the dinner The hotel is old, but... Had a lovely dinner in this club. The club is a throw back to colonial days with its Billiard Room, Reading Room, Big game trophies etc. You need to dress up for dinner - but you can borrow a jacket on site. Set menu dinner was good. Staff very friendly.

stayed here for a night during a tour of the island. amazing old school empire residence. dressing for dinner compulsory and if you don't have a suit they'll lend you one, it won't fit but it'll be hilarious to see yourself in the most ridiculous ill-fitting outfit you've ever had to wear. snooker table attended by guy in traditional dress,... If you want the overall experience of little England, go to the Hill Club. The executive suit is huge and decorated with old furniture. During breakfast and dinner you will be treated as a Royal. Don't expext to much quality but go for the atmosphere.

This is just strange. We were desperately trying to find a bar in Nuwara Eliya and the bars in the hotel smell funny and have a stale and boring atmosphere, mainly because the lighting is so stark. It's not quaint, it's just odd. We were kicked out of the 'mixed' bar for not being in suits (who carries suits whilst... More
