We had a lovely stay here, once you get over the formality of it and just enjoy it for something from a different age. Whilst dressing up in jacket and tie (borrowed) for dinner might not appeal to all, it was a lovely meal and served perfectly. Quite surreal really. Rooms were lovely, we had a suite with adjoining room... More

Re visit Sri Lanka's colonial past when you enter the Hill Club. This is the only place in the country where you could see gentlemanly and lady like conduct by all who are present. One of the finest and oldest clubs in the world is Managed by Nirmo Thambapallai who is one of the very vest in the business! I... More

From the centre of Nuwara Eliya you can easily walk to The Hill Club. We found it a strange sensation because the city center is like most cities in Sri Lanka somewhat chaotic and most of the time build from a practical point of view. Within five minutes you're in a totally other environment. You enter little Britain. The Hill... More

The building and grounds are lovely and has easy access to the golf club over the road. The rooms have an old fashioned and cosy/comfortable feel-including providing a hot water bottle at night (not that it is very cold). The downside was the extensive amount of rules ie strict dress code for dinner, no use of mobile phones in communal... More

The Hill Club is a delightful location, in the sleepy quint town of Nuwera Eliya. We honestly felt like we stepped back in time to a different era. This property is not perfect; it can appear a little rough around the edges. Yet in a world of star class luxury and modern perfections, the Hill club felt real.....it felt authentic.... More

The Hill Club is not for everyone, but if you happen to be a nostalgic fanatic like me, who has this obsession in all old British colonial things, I assure you that you will love it. For those who think it is pretentious, well, it is NOT. In fact, it is the least-pretentious place that tourists can have access. Formal... More

The hotel grounds are like a piece of old England but that's where it stops for us. The room we had, room 8 (and 9 would be the same ) are facing the kitchen ventilation which is on from before 6am to after 10.30am. It was easy to know what they were cooking as we were smelling it! At first... More

I really liked staying here. The staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for us, the beds were comfortable, the showers were hot and the food was really nice. The hot water bottles in our beds were a delightful touch on a freezing nuwara Eliya night. The building is almost like a living museum and I truly does feel like... More

The drive to the hotel in Nuwara Elya was beautiful . The hotel has a quaint old world charm to it We were upgraded to the beautiful south suite . The room was right out of a Victorian era , all wooden The sad part was the limited spread for vegetarians in their menu for dinner . The other let... More

The club will get you to the old colonial days - we spent there just one night, but it was worth the experience Thanks to Benedict for making it special - he got us in front of the fireplace before and after dinner, booked us the table and took care of us during the dinner The hotel is old, but...
