What an experience, white gloved waiters, wonderful 5 course menu with candelabra and a roaring log fire added to the requirement to wear jacket and tie, it can only be a taste of bygone times. We recommend if in the area to go and savour a very pleasant evening, it costs 100 rps for temporary membership ( 50p ) trust... More

We ushered in 2015 at the hill club in the peaceful , quaint , tea garden hill station of Nuwara iliya in central Sri Lanka. The boarding and lodging facilities and service were par excellence and a personal interest by the manager was praiseworthy. Being a colonial heritage club one could sense the past in the present !!. We were... More

We decided to go in a hotel when staying in Nuwara Eliya, as it was quite cold outside and chosing The Hill Club was a great idea. We spent 2 great nights there, enjoying the outside, the plesant room and the reading room with the fireplace. The service was great. The food in the restaurant is not the best choice,... More

We booked through Agoda (as per their staff advice) as it offered a better deal than the hotel. We wanted to stay for 1 night only but we wanted to experience the atmosphere of the hotel and decided to stay for longer. Immediately once you enter the hotel you can feel the charm of the building, its history and the... More

We stayed here only for 1 night, but we totally enjoyed it. First of all many thanks to Mr. Kesavan and the Chef of the restaurant. We had really amazing dinner while we were listening Frank Sinatra Christmas songs. Atmosphere was delightful there and beautiful hotel garden.

Nice estate just off golf course and next to grand hotel. Beautiful from the outside, VERY tired on the inside - both in the common areas and in the rooms, especially bathrooms. Bit dusty overall. Despite white livery and aim to upkeep old private club feeling, staff (esp front office) is largely unhelpful and a bit clueless. This said, decent... More

We travelled to Nuwara Eliya by train from Kandy which was amazing. When we arrived at The Hill Club it was just like being in a stately home in the UK only in Sri Lanka! Our room was nice, a little tired- particularly the bathroom- but it was comfortable and as we were on our honeymoon they had left us... More

Visited Hill Club a week ago. Was pretty nervous after reading reviews on Trip Advisor but thought i'd go for it anyway. Hill club was a pleasant surprise. It is an Old Colonial building, lovely British architecture a stone building with beautiful views. As some reviews state the hotel needed some refurbishing and work is in progress as i write... The Colonial style of the hotel is excellent only to be matched with the service - the late night hot water bottle will delight cold travellers. Unfortunately this was not matched by the room - rather shabby and a very poor state of bathroom ( my partner didn't shower !! ). We didn't eat here as we ate the excellent... More

What a joke...the place is poverty stricken....how sad...such a beautiful building from the outside... To ask people to dress for dinner and then send them to a damp grubby closet to sleep in is awful. The room is tiny with mould on the walls, worn out cheap furniture and a dark feel to it.There is nowhere to put your suitcase... More
