As mentioned by other reviewers this is a throwback to the days of the colonial planters. We were upgraded to a suite which large, furnished in thirties style with a large old fashioned bathroom. The hot water bottle was a nice touch, delivered to the door.Jacket and tie for the silver service dinner which was fine with attentive staff. A... More

The Hill Club is truly a bastion of English colonial hotels from days past. It is quirky, old fashioned, with set menu and jacket with tie requirement in the main dining room. Rooms are old, small, and feel dusty. Service is rather good, but the food in the restaurant is decent but not interesting. Worth ONE visit, and we felt... More

Stayed here overnight on a tour. Our room was small (apparently the double bed rooms are smaller then the twin bed rooms), but clean and adequate. The rules of the old men's club are still maintained...you must dress for dinner and for drinks in the bar after a certain time. The guys all enjoyed the borrowed jackets and ties, the... More

As we arrived, we were given a nice room with 2 single beds, despite having booked a double room. They quickly moved us to a small room with a double bed, with no windows and mould through the bathroom. Upon questioning this, since the room quality was so different, we were moved again to a room in the clubhouse, and... More

We traveled around Sri Lanka and stayed decided one night at the Hill Club in Nuwara Eliya. Upon arrival we were told that no children below the age of five were admitted to the hotel main building which was a disappointment but we were placed in a family room in an annex just across the yard. The annex rooms seemed... More

Our group of seven on a Sri Lanka tour spent one night at the Hill Club. We arrived early evening so not a lot of time spent but the room we thought was very colonial and quaint. We went to dinner in the main restaurant and had to delve into the jacket room to be properly attired for dinner. It... More

The Hotel is situated about 8500 feet above sea level. So at night its COLD. It is a relic of the colonial times when the tea planters stayed the night and played snooker. The rooms are very outdated and there is no central heating. When the staff offer a hot water bottle, take it. The highlight is the formal dinner... More

We had a superb stay at the Hill Club. We were apprehensive to book it earlier because of some bad reviews but we loved our stay there. We stayed at the Hill Cottage and it has very few rooms. But still we had a staff team of 5-6 people dedicated just for our well being and security. The rooms are... More
