This is the coziest place to be in Nuwara Eliya. The location and the scenery are wonderful (you can have your breakfast overlooking the tea plantations). The 2 km walk uphill are definitely worth. Otherwise there is always the possibility to hire a tuc-tuc (very cheap). The host has a trusted tuc-tuc driver who is very reliable and a really... More

MountView Cottage offers great views of the surrounding hills and tea plantations. It’s located at the end of St Andrew’s road (on the hills side). Taking a tuktuk is better than a car / van because the last 500m up the hill is really windy and narrow. A tuktuk to Nuwara Eliya city centre costs around Rs 100-150 (Feb 2015... More

We stayed at the Mount View for one night and it was wonderful. It was quite rustic just perfect for a hotel in the mountains. The room was clean and so was the bathroom. The staff was so lovely and helpful. The manager, a very nice man, is always around to respond to any of your needs in the best way... More

Perfect place to get cozy and stay indoors. It is on top of a hill and hence offers a great view of the mountains and the town. It's a bit cut off from the rest of the town and you'll need a tuktuk to go down the hill and reach the main centre. We stayed here for one night and... More

This hotel is located about as high as one can get above the town, and all the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. However, it is quirky, and is on several levels linked by a single tiled staircase, with pseudo concrete mock wooden handrails, though they are not handrails in the accepted use of the word! The restaurant and kitchen... More

The decor in this hotel reminds me of my dads house. Its pretty unique and tacky but amazing in its own way. The staff is really friendly and the views from the rooms and patios are worth it. The Wifi was very fast as well but this may have been because there were not too many people competing for signal... More

We found this little gem by chance recommendation from another traveller and we were pleased we did. Upon arrival, Laurence took time to explain everything to us and offered us a reasonable price on the room. Laurence offered us fresh tea on arrival and helped us with any queries we had about hikes/bus routes/etc. All the staff were excellent, and... More

Me and my boyfriend were recommended to Mountview Cottage by a fellow traveller we met in Kandy. We got a tuk tuk up the mountain to Mountview and were greeted by Lawrence who showed us two lovely rooms. He offered us tea after our long bus ride there and we chose the slightly cheaper room, which was still fine. It... More

We had to change our itinerary and stay Mt. View Cottage just for one night, but it was pleasant stay. If you like having Sri Lankan curry for dinner and/or breakfast, let the staff know a day before you are going to eat. During the dinner, when I had mentioned them that I love dosa, they made us very very... More
