Nuwara Eliya marked a fabulous start to our Sri Lankan sojourn and it was largely due to the stay at King Fern Bungalow. The stunning city views from balcony, immaculate lawns with blooming flowers, sumptuous curries and the perfectly brewed tea - all made this place truly memorable for us. Special mention of the hospitality of the owner, Wasantha who... More

We stayed at Spring Garden (formerly King Fern Bungalow) for 2 nights, and were very impressed by the property, as well as Wasantha's help and advice. He arranged a driver to take us to Adams peak, as well as visit local waterfalls and tea plantations. Excellent rice and curry, and beautiful view. Highly recommended.

The view is probably the best in town, the prices are good considering the scarcity of decent accom in Sri Lanka's popular spots these days. And Wasantha the manager is a character and a big help with anything you want to arrange. The hotel itself is wonderfully quirky in design and layout, and the room is absolutely fine. Yes, it's... Went there for a day and place seems to be ok. We were not in the place at the day time. Far from the city and there prices are different from their Web site. Road access is not good. Little or No space for two vehicles... Room was ok but is not super quality. Our room door lock got stuck... More

I stayed here with a group of friends in August 2014. We were 12 people, so we booked the entire house for one night. And already upon arriving we all really regret that we didn't stay longer! The house is really beautiful with large rooms, comfortable beds and warm blankets (which you need in Nuwara Eliya!). Wasantha, who runs the... More

Nice accomodation, good room and good food . After we ordered food the owner went to the market ....after about two hours we got the food without information before . Very cold there in night time. The prices everywhere in Sri lanka for accomodation are much to high for what you get, as well in relation to other asian countries.

Wasantha, the manager, is super kind, always helpful and ready to explain much more than what concerns his hotel, hence getting around Nuwara Eliya, organising or even joining and leading the trip to neighbouring places like Horton Hights etc. Exceptionally good food at the bungalow (actually little hotel). The bungalow is at the hill, overlooking the city, offering wonderful sights... More

Stayed here for 4 nights (Dec 2014) and absolutley loved it! Wasantha and Chithra are so lovely and kind even looking after my friend when she was ill. Great advice on the area and what to do and amazing true Sri Lankan cooking! Great hot showers, warm blanket on the bed, fire, nice social area and just a general cosy... More

Wasanatha was a great host, organised everything for us with a smile during our stay and gave us lots of useful tips and history of the area. Good rates in a large house on the hill with a homely feel with a nice view over the town. The rooms were slightly dated but charming. Great food, plenty of tea and... More
