Stayed here for 2 nights in July. Location is within walking distance of the centre of town. The actual building is beautiful inside, so much could be done here. Rooms were big and with fireplace. We asked for a double bed, we got 2 twins pushed together and separate sheets and a tiny blanket (it was cold when we were... More

We were on a guided tour, accommodation booked for us. Our feeling about this hotel is to some effect influenced by the weather, which was cool and wet, rather like our home town, Glossop. Our room was rather charming - quaintly old-fashioned with interesting furniture and lots of dark polished wood. It was distinctly chilly. We asked for a fire... More

The Grosvenor has a good bit of old time (colonial) atmosphere along with clean rooms and a quiet location just off the main road at the edge of town. It's a 10-15 minute walk to the heart of "downtown" or the Grand Hotel, an important attraction. I first landed in another, more expensive hotel closer to the center and bailed... More

We are on tour. This is our 6th night on Sri Lanka. A few hotels behind us. This is so far our favorite one. Very nice architecture, good service, with honest smile, not a trained one. We have got room with a fireplace. And we use it, it is a bit expensive to buy a wood but it is worth... More

Definately a nice building originally, but overall we would not recommend staying here, and definately not eating here. We had the worst meal ever, and we went to bed hungry in cold room, and almost did not sleep. The staff is a group of Young boys running and playing in The halls, and dont know anything about service or cooking.... More

My wife and I spent one night here because we were doing the Worlds End hike and it was close to drive there. BIG MISTAKE!!! We arrived to a cold, dark and damp room. We asked for towels and when they brought them, they were still wet and had a weird smell to them. We were unpacking to settle in... More

We went here just for lunch and didn't stay. We were told the hotel was full but there was no one else around. We were greeted by a server when we entered, we asked if the hotel served lunch and were told they did so we looked at the menu and ordered a sandwich each. We waited in the lounge... More

Well past its glory days! Unfortunately our guide booked us in for two nights. The rooms are quite large but cold and gloomy. The bathroom was adequate and the water hot, but the room remained damp, walls were mouldy and the towels smelt musty and felt damp at all times. Our room was near the entrance to the hotel and... The Grosvenor offers a great colonial atmosphere, reminding you of past glory. Similar to that is the hotel. While having a very majestic architecture, the rooms are not so bright, windows can be cracked and damp. There were no towels at first and the ones we were brought had a bad smell. Nuwara Elia has a rather cool climate and... More

My driver took me there and overall it was not a good experience. Being a woman alone I felt uncomfortable. I saw one other woman and other than that, it was all local drivers and male employees hanging out. The entire place was freezing. I had two long sleeved shirts, wool socks and trainers and was still uncomfortably cold, I... More
