The place was polished and clean with an aroma in the room. However the hotel does not seem to be bothered about attention to details. 1. Our TV had no remote... did not get one even after requesting and the antenna wire was dangling... fixed it on my own but none of the chanells were clear (same in the other... More

My main complaint with this place was the bed/linens/pillow. My bed was so mouldy and mildewy, I was actually woken up in the night by the smell coming from the bed. I thankfully asked for a new pillow before I retired, as the one that was on the bed was about a million years old and smelled so horrible there... More

The hotel is an old colonial building, with furniture from this era. Our room was spacious, bit dark with fireplace, small veranda and old wood furniture smell. The bath was clean. Big dark lobby is the only place with Wifi. Certainly the famous times of the building and furniture allready passed and the staff doesn't help to improve this attitude.

The hotel itself is a nice colonial building with huge rooms, we even had an old fireplace inside. There is a lounge and a bar and a lot of potential. This COULD be a very nice place! Unfortunalety, the room was very (!) dirty and the bathroom was disgusting - the toilet looked like a public train station toilet. I... More

Yes this hotel was dark, grubby and run down with not the most efficient staff but somehow I liked it here. The old Colonial style architecture was interesting, the rooms were enormous and the location was good. It felt like staying in an old country lodge. The breakfast was average but we had an evening meal here one night which... More

This is an interesting old heritage style hotel with characterful architecture and a nice outward appearance. The dark, echoing halls and unremarkable rooms are a letdown. The rooms are large but have too many gaps around the doors and a lot of noise enters the room from outside. The rooms are also cold, there are few TV choices and the... More

With the price , it's not bad . Peaceful and decent with good architecture. . Location is good . There's a fireplace in the room as well . The restaurant is empty though . Lake gregory is a minute away and view is of the race course

A strange experience. It was chilly and the atmosphere of the house matched the weather. Room not well prepared, we had to ask for towels and a toilet roll. No firewood available, they said it was the end of the season. Shower room very basic and in a poor state of repair. Food mediocre, they were hard pressed to find... More

Stayed one night here which was enough. Ignore the Rough Guide's write up. Too dark Too basic Dirty shower room We were the only people who ate here for dinner. Enjoyed the evening drinking at The Grand Hotel by the fire, which seemed splendid by comparison. Sorry Grosvenor but have to say you have fallen way behind the times...place needs... More
