When you first you walk in, the hotel gives a very good impression. It has that old world charm with overstuffed sofas and common rooms cluttered with antique furniture in a cozy sort of way. Our room was large, with a sitting area, and a big bathroom and good sized bed. In the afternoon light and sun, it was very... More

Hotel Glendower was the only real appointment during our recent trip to Sri Lanka. Once a beautiful hotel, it has lost much of its splendour due to total lack of maintenance. Stayed there for 2 nights. Whilst the main room around the open fire does have some charm, our bedroom was very poor. Springs could be felt through the mattress,... More

We visited Nuwara Eliya for 2 days and it rained for most of the two days so maybe this is the reason why the hotel rooms were so damp. The rooms are very basic and not very welcoming. The staff were very attentive and very friendly and we had an evening meal at the hotel which was actually very good.... More

The location is perfect, walking distance to the main market place and parks and yet away from all noise. The staff is extremely courteous and helpful. It's a small boutique hotel and retains the old world charm. We had to leave for Bentota early morning and they made lovely breakfast packs for all of us, which was extremely thoughtful. Definitely... More

We stayed here just recently. Milano & staff could not do enough to please us & always with a smile. The service was fantastic & the atmosphere if the hotel definitely definitive of Little England. You could sense the history in the atmosphere of the hotel. Food was good & location was within easy walking distance to town. I would... More

A splendid boutique hotel in a 150 years old Colonial Building with nice rooms, small but a beautiful garden, lovely breakfast and Fantastic service. Many thanks to the manager Mr. Chandana for complimentary upgrading our room from standard to suite. A must recommended for those who want a homely stay in Nuwara Eliya. Located just 5 minutes walk to The... More

Nuwara Eliya is a beautiful location - breath-taking! Unfortunately the Glendower Hotel needs a fair bit of work to come close to that! The rooms are clean and neat, but old and in need of a revamp. The bed in our room was sooooooo bad we nearly slept on the floor! The other guests we were with didn't get that... More

The place is near the Victoria Park. The entrance, garden is very beautiful and filled with flowers. Rooms are tidy and clean. The rooms were furnished with good facilities. (blanket, Cupboard, Mirror and Table, Reading Table, Couch, Bed Side Tables, Towels, soap, bath tub). No tea in the room (tea bags and a water heater is suggested) Room service is... More

We (family with two four-year old girls) visited Nuwara Eliya off-season in May and seemed to be the only guests. We were greeted warmly and had a nice and large room reserved for us. One has to understand that this is indeed an old house dating from the colonial days, so room layout, bathroom plumbing etc. might not be up... More

Nuwara Eliya would live on forever in my mind for nothing but Glendower. The wooden structure, the dew swept lawn and the palate of colours the flowers had to offer in the misty garden. What a peaceful retreat !! During my stay one evening when it rained, the fireplace inside was enchanting. Atleast 20-25 different varieties of flower shrubs grow... More
