I'm transported back to merry old England every time I visit Hotel Glendower in Nuwara Eliya. It's so charming and cozy...l.love the pub, the restaurant, the bright cheery rooms and the attentive staff who keep my tea cup full at all times!!! ..It's a perfect place to stay with family...Mom and Dad can hang out in the pub and play... A old stay place ,probably a property of a once British officer converted into a stay hotel.Nice experience to stay in here. You can approach the town by a walk. Around the golf club periphery you can walk. One can try Billiards if willing to pay an amount for recreation. Swimming pool is maintained .You can enjoy bar facilities too. Fire... More

This hotel used to be nice. Not anymore. Fungi everywhere in the bathrooms. The wooden floors are broken and the windows can certainly use some new paint. Next to this a nearby restaurant in a bus is playing very loud music with a strong bass from early afternoon until late in the evening. We changed rooms because at first we... More

The place has a good location to walk to the center of the town. From the outside it looks real nice and cosy. On the inside it is also cosy. Except the rooms, which were average and dark. The windows could not properly close and there was no heating or option to ventilate which made the rooms very damp. The... More

Well, it is not a hotel in strict sense - should be qualifying as a BnB (Break and Breakfast). Yes, it is an english tudor style villa in the nice english town of Nuware Eliya. Most of the rooms are garden view on ground floor with the hall serving as coffee shop. We used room service and the food was... More

Our breath was taken away when we walked through the perfectly manicured garden with hedges and roses to the old Tudor style manor, where staff with bowties greeted us with huge smiles. Past fresh roses in the hallway, we were taken to our room and admired the view right over the garden while tea was served to us. The whole... More

This place has so much potential: it is well positioned in the town and has beautiful gardens (sadly the weather prevented us from making the most of it), and the communial guest rooms are really comfy and welcoming. The problem appears to be that little money has been spent on it for a long time. It was really chilly in... More

When you first you walk in, the hotel gives a very good impression. It has that old world charm with overstuffed sofas and common rooms cluttered with antique furniture in a cozy sort of way. Our room was large, with a sitting area, and a big bathroom and good sized bed. In the afternoon light and sun, it was very... More

Hotel Glendower was the only real appointment during our recent trip to Sri Lanka. Once a beautiful hotel, it has lost much of its splendour due to total lack of maintenance. Stayed there for 2 nights. Whilst the main room around the open fire does have some charm, our bedroom was very poor. Springs could be felt through the mattress,... More

We visited Nuwara Eliya for 2 days and it rained for most of the two days so maybe this is the reason why the hotel rooms were so damp. The rooms are very basic and not very welcoming. The staff were very attentive and very friendly and we had an evening meal at the hotel which was actually very good.... More
