Classic Srilankan colonial experience With Beautiful colonial architecture, Hotel Glendower is situated at a very prominent location at NuwaraEliya as the property was probably bought by the current owner from a prominent British resident. Surprisingly this hotel is not as old as it looks... With its botanical gardens, its carefully architectural exteriors, colonial style interiors, English and Welsh artefacts, olden... More

Had lunch here. Chinese menu with some Thai. Service, staff and food very average. No prawns despite extensive prawn dishes. Pestered by flies around table. Price reasonable but food mediocre. Would not go again.

Had visited along with family. Hired car from Colombo. Stayed Kandy 2 days and then went to Nuwara. Compare to Kandy, Nuwara is the best area to spend the time. Here all hotels will not have Fans or Ac ( Even any five star). In the may, the max tem goes to 23 Degc in the morning and night 18... More

If you want to try a colonial hotel without overpaying for it, this is the place to go to. The rooms are big, and the staff is extremely friendly. We had take-away breakfast, so cannot comment on the restaurant.

This was perfect for our overnight stay in 'little England'. Big rooms and a building oozing colonial charm. The gardens are beautiful and the bar and log fire perfect touches. Lots of hot water in the evening but none in the morning but that was the only issue. I would recommend this place for sure.

We booked two rooms (No 1 & 2) - both were good. We didn't try their food. I would not hesitate to visit this place. Overall experience was good. This hotel was certainly better than the other mid range hotels that I've visited in Nuwara Eliya. PROS: Rooms were kept neat, the washrooms were clean. Cable TVs had good selection of... More

I was on my way to Nuwara-eliya with the intention of meeting my friends there. I actually got lost and couldn't find my way to the hotel I was originally booked into. After driving around Nuwara-eliya town, exhausted, I ended up at Glendower Hotel. There was only a single room available and my fiance was supposed to join me later.... More

Only stayed one night but it was lovely. It is a beautiful old colonial style with nice big rooms and friendly staff. We had a drink in their very atmospheric bar, enjoying a chat with the bar man who showed us the 150 year old billiard table upstairs. Although the restaurant was a bit lacking atmosphere as we were the... More

One of my most memorable stays in Nuwara Eliya. Glendower is a small seven room hotel, but with a homely feeling. Amazing colonial building and furniture, superb services by always attentive staff. The food they serve in the King Prawn restaurant is a delight. To have a cup of ceylon tea in there beautiful garden is a cup to cherish.... More
