I was on my way to Nuwara-eliya with the intention of meeting my friends there. I actually got lost and couldn't find my way to the hotel I was originally booked into. After driving around Nuwara-eliya town, exhausted, I ended up at Glendower Hotel. There was only a single room available and my fiance was supposed to join me later.... More

Only stayed one night but it was lovely. It is a beautiful old colonial style with nice big rooms and friendly staff. We had a drink in their very atmospheric bar, enjoying a chat with the bar man who showed us the 150 year old billiard table upstairs. Although the restaurant was a bit lacking atmosphere as we were the... More

One of my most memorable stays in Nuwara Eliya. Glendower is a small seven room hotel, but with a homely feeling. Amazing colonial building and furniture, superb services by always attentive staff. The food they serve in the King Prawn restaurant is a delight. To have a cup of ceylon tea in there beautiful garden is a cup to cherish.... More

This property is at very good location . Old British colonial bungalow converted into a very good hotel .Staff are friendly and cheerful . Only problem I found was with bathrooms.Taps were leaking and is very old and out dated. There is too much scope of improvement in it.Garden facing rooms are very good.I had breakfast there which was simply great.Liked... Stayed here 1 night in March 2015. Pluses: Great old colonial building. It used to be a Britisher's lodge. Dark wood and Tudor styling Proper dark whiskey bar Snooker & billiards upstairs Lovely garden with topiaries Next door to the Grand Hotel Walkable from bus station Free wifi Free breakfast Spacious rooms with sitting areas Minuses: It's a bit run... Nice colonial hotel conveniently located in the middle of this town, within walking distance to the market place and Victoria Park. They do have a Chinese restaurant on premise. Grand Indian restaurant is also nearby. Nuwara Eliya being a small place, food options are very few. I found this hotel is very convenient in terms of location and food options.... More

We stayed 2 nights in this hotel. The outside of the hotel is very pretty with a classic look and beautiful flowers and garden. The rooms on the other hand need some refurbishing. The rooms are a bit small and you can hear people talking or walking by outside of your room. The good thing was that there was not... More

Lovely old colonial hotel , a bit worn around the edges but nice all the same, there's a couple of nice lounges where they lit a log fire in the evenings. There's a bar which opens at six, populated by locals. A great soundtrack but a bit loud . Nice staff, the dining room served all types of food which... More

The only good thing to say about this hotel is that it is too small for groups. Rooms are poorly furnished, with a pervasive smell of damp. Bathroom window curtains have mould growing inside their seams. - need I say more? The overall ambiance is of decay and dilapidation. A miserable little manager's table sits on a chewed up rug... We stayed 2 nights here which we enjoyed. The location is very good with a nice walk alongside the golf course into town. The rooms were comfortable but need refurbishing - a bit shabby - would have given an excellent review if it were not for this. The food was good and we really enjoyed the bar and lounge. A... More
