We really enjoyed the atmosphere at King Fern Cottage. The design feels as if you are in an expensive jungle lodge (lots of wood, stream flowing past, roaring fire in an evening) but actually the location is very convenient on the edge of town. Each room had an individual design and was spacious. The bathroom was adequate - the beds... More

cool and openminded owner, they pick u up at the trainstation nearby if u ring ahead, which is helpful. we made a horton plains tour and enjoyed it very much. the food is good, the rooms are really great and the atmosphere is nice. we definetily can recommend that place. in contrary to the lonelyplanets comment "closed from may-nov" the... We stayed a couple with three children, a very nice place, very special atmosphere, the design of the place is really nice, the little stream that crosses in a guest house, very relaxing, the staff and the owners are very nice, and of course the rooms are very nice and clean, highly recommended

This place was a perfect, really peaceful and the staff were really nice. The glass windows from the floor all the way over the ceiling is so cool - it's like staying in a treehouse! The food was good and it was in a good location, easy to walk around town from here.

From the moment we arrived we were delighted by our cosy treehouse amongst lush green surroundings. We loved Chulan's charismatic personality. He and his staff go above and beyond to ensure you have a pleasant stay. Great value for money, sensational hosts and relaxing tranquil environment. What more could you want in nuwaraeliya :-)

Stayed here 2 nights in a very comfortable room. It was clean, fresh linen and lots of needed blankets. Our room had a private little porch with a stream running underneath and a view of trees and shrubbery. The staff were pleasant and helpful. It is located awhile away from the main town but it is an easy walk. Really... More

This was one of best places we stayed in Sri Lanka. Only a quick 5 minute walk from town past the golf course, leads you to this this almost tree house like accommodation, but fancy. With a roaring open fire, hand crafted furniture, this place has an cosy feel about it. The room we had was good, almost in the... More

Of all the guest houses I stayed in in Sri Lanka, King Fern Cottage was by far the best one. Helpful and friendly staff, spotless clean rooms, and above all the wooden structure that adds a unique atmosphere. It's a little bit off the center of town, but it doesn't really matter.

This is a great place to stay! We stayed 2 nights in a cheap attic room which was big and comfy. The food and breakfast is good and location is fine an quiet. THAT was especially good since there was a very noisy festival going on in town when we were there so it was good to be away from... More
