End of November we spent 2D1N at Umang island resort. I joined gathering with my friend's company, Lumire hotel. It was my second trip to Umang island. long trip took about 5-6 hrs from Jakarta made us little bit tired but it was paid off by seeing the beauty of small island, white sandy and welcomed by the GRO, Edvi.... from their website everything looks great but when you reach there you know that you will have a terrible stay but this is what we experience: service so bad, staff even thru stones at peaceful komodo dragon that stay in the island, none of the staff care about anything, rooms not clean (our garbage had some rest from the previous... 5hours drive from Jakarta, totally not worth it. We stay here for one night. Service was terrible , you have to pay for every single attraction you want to do. Everything you paid for accommodation and food only for 3 meals. Beside that, everything will be extra charge. For us, another 5hours drive to visit Umang is not going to... More

It took me 5 hours drive to get there and to make it worst...that was on workday ! The road was narrow, curvy and some people said that it is not a safe road to travel after dawn. The surrounding sea water itself was not bad since it is very blue and crystal clear. But apparently this small rock island... More

Nice place, but so hard to access. The Island is not so far from the Java Island. You'll find a little monument with the globe on the top (likes at Universal Studio) signed by Ratu Atut Choisyiah (Banten Governoor at past). And some plants were planted by Indonesian Celebrities. Such as Nafa Urbach and Zack Lee, Surya Saputra, etc. Clean... More

That's a seven hour ride to start off with, and its out of Jakarta's crazy traffic jams. So you do the math. Resort wise it's mid range in price but doesn't seem to have the lux level to go with it. A little aged, some creaks and cracks but chalets were still clean and have decent sleepers. Resort facilities include... More

My company held gathering at Umang a while ago. The biggest complaint from our employee was the location. Since we are using small bus, it takes more than 5 hours to reach there. But, when they arrived at Umang, zip, no complaint. The island was quite nice. It's not that beautiful. But the view, the sand, the beach, the waves... More

Our Umang experience started in Lippo Karawaci, Tangerang at 06.50 on 3rd October 2013. The driver loaded our bags into the Diahatsu Lumio and the 5-6 hour journey to the west coast of Java began. We travelled on the toll road at first and then came off the motorway and started on smaller roads which were busy through many towns.... More

There are not many places where you can snorkel “close” to the metropolis of Jakarta. The thousand islands are nearly destroyed by pollution or overcrowded during the weekends. Probably the best option is the island hotel “Pulau Umang”. It is not a Hilton or Marriot resort; no, you are in Indonesia, probably a good 3 star place. It is located... More
