I booked this haveli through Hotels.com and the photos on the site don't reflect reality. Having had one of my most dreadful experiences of a hotel, I'm not sure how some guests on Trip Advisor actually gave it "Excellent/Very good" ratings. To begin with, it's literally a building site. When I arrived, there was nobody at the front desk. Why?... More

the service, staff, food were great. we needed to change our train tickets and were so concerned what would happen if we didn't get it. the host was very helpful to provide us all the possibilities. we were relieved by his assistance. thanks for providing us a comfortable stay and the great hospitality.

The stay at Palkiya Haveli was for an official trip. I was excited at staying at a heritage hotel, but this turned out to be a slight disappointment. Yes, the room allotted was of a reasonable size, it was neat and clean as well. The old haveli has been converted into hotel rooms, each equipped with a separate bathroom. The... More

I happened to visit Kota on a Training assisgnment, and choose Palkhiya Haveli, there were other International Guest too. Small cosy comfortable rooms, basic amenities, and well freshly cooked Indian home food.Servants at your beck and call. You can order any things special ( Indian). The owner- lady is very respectful an loving so is the servants.

Great family hotel (so do not expect a five star or tourist group atmosphere). We stayed there last October. The food served was Indian home cooking at its best (so no a la carte). We ended up eating every meal here simply as it was not to be missed.

Not much choice of accommodation in this nice little town but stayed one night at the Palkiya Haveli. Our driver was not made very welcome and my friend and I felt very guilty sharing a bottle of beer. The food was tasty, especially the home made jam for breakfast, but no choice available. Possibly the best available, and the room... More

We are glad that we made a choice not to stop in Kota for more than one night, arrive late and leave early! There is a black cloud of industrial pollution hanging over the town which itself is in poor shape and in our view not worth a visit ( Bundi is preferable) The Haveli is tucked away down a... More

The city of Kota in Rajasthan is known for its cram schools and industrial centers. It is not a huge tourist destination nor is it particularly photogenic. The streets are busy and noisy. This 200-year old family home is a lovely oasis of calm in the centre of the old part of town. It's built around a courtyard and features... More

The Palkiya is a beautiful havili but I would not go back there; despite the raving review of my travel guide I found much was missing in terms of service and welcome. There is a nice patio with tables but when we went in January we were told not very politely that dining and drinking could only be done inside,... More

If you want to experience the grandeur and opulence with which the earlier Nawabs stayed, Palkiya Haveli is the right choice. The rooms are comfortable and very well decorated. But where the property stands out in terms of elegance, it lets you down in terms of food. The food is served from the kitchen of the Rajput family who are... More
