Reading and dozing in hammocks as boats go by. Incredible amounts of tasty food eaten on a riverside gazebo. Stunning setting. Lovely room. Jossy and Viju were most hospitable and helpful. Highly recommended.

It's a really nice, quiet and peacefull homestay just on the waterfront. Jossy and his family are very sympathic and friendly; just wonderfull is the food. Really fine home made cooking; the breakfest was great. With all the fruits , home made jam, special coconut flower drink. Just amazing sitting outside along the waterside and having breakfest. Too bad it... More

Kait's Home is splendidly located on the riverside in Champakulam, a short bus drive (or somewhat longer ferry ride) away from Alleppey. There's not much else in the way of restaurants, so you're tied to their cooking. The food is good, but not spectacular in any way, and for the quality, we found it overpriced. We have had much better... More

Everywhere we stayed I thought was the best place we'd eaten. This wasn't our last stay, but the meals were The Best. We had a lovely room, could sit on the verandah overlooking the river, watch the toddy man climbing the tree and tapping, the canoe ferry criss crossing (wish we'd gone on it for a wander on the other... Kait's is a wonderful place. The rooms are simple but the surrounding gardens are spectacular. We loved the gazebo overhanging the water where we ate dinner and breakfast. The food was just excellent as well. Had we known what a wonderful place this was, I think we might have skipped the rice barge experience and just stayed put. We were... More

Great location, meaning you can experience the backwaters rather than just gliding through them on a houseboat. Cute little rooms, maybe a bit tired in places considering the price. Ours had A/C and a fan and overlooked the river. lovely seats/swings on the porch and benches/hammocks scattered around the place, not to mention the gorgeous gazebo on the water where... More

This place is magic! Cute little Keralan-style cottages (everything super clean and tidy) with porches replete with swings, Kait's is bliss. Have a beer out on the water under the cabana and watch then sun go down while Josey and Linet's kids play in the background. Then, hope you're hungry, because Linet has been cooking and you're about to be... More

Spent just 1 night at this homestay which has stunning scenery being located adjacent to the river and naturally there was a good variety of birdlife.Usual herons and kingfishers and a white bellied eagle. We enjoyed using the kayak and drifting up and down the river and exploring one of the narrow inlets which although overgrown with green weed was... More

Great rooms, a fantastic location right on the water, delicious food, and run by a lovely family, this is exactly what we wanted from a homestay. If we ever make it back to Kerala we'll be heading straight back here too. The only negative: like a previous review we also found the recommended taxi driver to be rude and made... More

It may be a little off the beaten track but it was a total surprise to find such an idyllic retreat in these backwaters. We loved it so much we extended our stay and took advantage of the free kayaks and canoes to explore a bit on our own. Jossy and his family were extremely hospitable and the food was... More
