We were welcomed with open arms at Arakal and made to feel at home immediately. Our hosts Abi and Mini plus sons were lovely to get to know and made a special effort to fix a boat trip for us, russle up a New year feast and fireworks. The accommodation has lots of character, the beach is a brief walk... More

We visited Arakal Heritage in October 2015 and we were delighted. We had the family room, which was just fine. Our hostfamily is what is worth visiting Arakal Heritage for. We stayed over Christmas in this gorgeous place. The owners, Abi and Mini, and Tom and Davis their children, gave us the warmest welcome. The food was amazing and they helped us with trips and excursions. The rooms with roofless bathrooms are stunning and showering outside was magical. Highly recommended.

I spent 4 nights between Christmas and New Year at Arakal Homestay. It was a little difficult to find as I was travelling independently, but with good directions from Abi I managed to get there by autorickshaw from Alleppey Station (it takes about 40 minutes). The cottage I stayed in was built about 300 years ago and it was a... More

We have stayed in Arakal Heritage for 1 night in Feb 2013. The owners, Mini and Aby are really, really nice, and welcomed us as if we were part of their family. The rooms are dark, but very nice, and have been renovated as they used to be part of the ancestors of the family. The beach is about 5... More

Unbelievable place, lost in the middle of nowhere, the perfect deal to play Robinson Crusoe and get some rest : white sand, wild and really empty beach you can easily reach (3 minutes walking distance at the end of the 18 ha garden-which is actually the most beautiful and huge coconut plantation i've ever seen), warm welcome, delicious food included... From all placed we slept during our trip through Kerala this is the only one we would never recommend to anybody! Compared with other homestays Arakal was the most expensive one, but we were shocked about the bad quality of food - nearly always cold, and neither fresh nor tasty - and about the missing service - one day the... If you want a quiet, secluded place close to the beach you must try this homestay run by a very welcoming and hospitable family. The accommodation is delightful. We had a comfortable double room with an attached shower and wc. The setting is delightfully Keralan. Palm trees, miles of white sandy beach within 5 minutes walk and very pretty countryside... Reading the reviews of this place I am unable to understand why they so positive. For the price of INR 6000 for a double room incl. meals I had expected a bit more (In Fort Cochin we paid INR 4800 for a very nice room at a good hotel where everything worked and INR 1000 for meals). There was absolutely... More
