We loved it here from the moment we arrived George and Bindi made us feel at home giving us fresh juice while they showed us George's snake boat trophies. Next was the most delicious lunch an array of different curries and side dishes served on a banana leaf. It was really interesting walking around the island, seeing the children coming... More

Charming hosts. Corteous and attentive family. Tasty local breakfast. Excellent cooking with many extras throughout the day. 2 large rooms only with your private porch in a 150 year old house; all amenities. A boat readily available to explore the small canals and their everyday live. Colourful village, canal and rice field walking tour right at your doorstep. Situated across... More

It's pretty good, though it's a guest house not a home-stay. Both George and Bhindu are kind and helpful, but there's no interaction with them beyond what you would have with any guest-house owner. The rooms are OK, but not great - comfortable bed, air-conditioner working but gets very noisy, shower is outside in a private yard, but we didn't... More

My wife and I spent five nights at Thevercad, a working rice farm, with the intention of exploring the backwaters from a good, relaxing base. Tripadvisor reviews suggested Thevercad would fit the bill and it did. The location is perfect; within the local community but isolated from road traffic with water in front and rice fields behind, the latter providing... More

I was taken here for lunch during a day out on a houseboat. The welcome and hospitality was so good. I was given an excellent lunch - so good I needed a pull up to get back on the boat! I was shown around and the rooms looked excellent in old Indian style. Indian hospitality at its best. If you... More

We chose this homestay for its location: away from the bustle of town. It did not disappoint. George and Bindu go out of their way to help and make you welcome. The food is simply delicious, the room stylish and comfortable, and the outside pebble floor bathroom a stylish surprise! we stayed 3 nights, walking the banks, visiting town (take... More

We stayed here for 2 nights and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere very much. It is situated directly on one of the main channels you can watch ferries and house boats the whole day. The rooms are both made of wood and have the bath room attached outside (it is a nice experience to take a shower being outside and listening... More

Myself and my partner recently stayed at Thevercad for 2 nights whilst travelling around Kerala. The place itself has a wonderful setting right on the river where you can spend the day simply watching the world go by. However, we felt the accommodation and other factors were lacking. Firstly you have to know the room is very dark which can... More

We stayed ate Goerge and Bindu's homestay for 2 nights and 3 days (Oct 2-5). The whole experience, from hospitability to customer care, was simply amazing. All members of the family were extremely welcoming and took great passion and care to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. The variety of dishes prepared by Bindu were delicious. George is well known... More

Travelling around Kerala with our university age daughters - this was our favourite home stay by far. We regret not staying for longer. Bindu's cooking was superb, the rooms were v comfortable - lovely crisp sheets, and perfect outdoor bathroom attached to the rooms. The rickshaws at the train station tried to con us into going elsewhere, but we managed... More
