Our small group plus guide arrived here after a superb day cruising around the Keralan Backwaters on a houseboat. The walk around the village was a nice introduction to local life. For my husband, the highlight of our 4 weeks in South India was the pole boat ride back to Ayana's that evening. Just drifting along listening to the music... More

Being in the back waters was a nice change from the busy cities and staying with a family allowed us to see a different side of life in India. We were served 3 good meals and had a pleasant room with a fan (very necessary). The village walk and pole boat ride were a good way to see more of... More

Stayed here as part of an Intrepid trip, felt very welcome by our family, and the meals were delicious! Thank you for your hospitality. We had an evening village walk and a pole boat ride during sunset. I loved both, but would have liked if the pole boat ride was for longer or went on a longer or different routes... More

I have been in India for over 6 weeks now and this was the best food I have had. The rooms were spotless, In fact the whole house was cleaner than most hotels I have been in here. You could see your reflection in the floors. Hosts were lovely.

I stayed as part of an intrepid tour and it was one of the highlights of my trip. The family were attentive and kind and served up delicious food, especially pumpkin curry. The village walk and pole boats were great and I didn't know so many fruits grew in one place. The only downside was not being able to stay... More

We felt very welcome in this homestay and had a great time. The family members are warmhearted and have a good sense of humour. They took care about us and showed us the surroundings including a trip in their boat. The meals we had were great. If you want to stay in a clean and nice homestay away of the... More

The people here were great. Informative and a great dinner added nice value to our visit. They were very informative about both the a area and the culture. Dinner was a great opportunity to eat great food while hear Ingrid great stories.

Our stay at Ayana was our highlight of Allepey. Great home cooking, warm genuine hospitality and the chance to stay in a local home with a knowledgeable and friendly hosts. Right beside the river, it was nice to have a chance to sink into the Kerala backwaters and feel local village life in a way not possible in the over... More

Ayana's Homestay is a "community homestay", so it is not just one homestay but actually a couple of homestays cooperating. Most pictures on Tripadvisor are taken from the main house, which belongs to the family of Gopal. Both houses we saw are located right next to Pamba river, and we did not have any difficulties getting there, though the location... More

Our stay at Ayana's was part of an Intrepid/Geckos tour. After coming from touristy Varkala and the busy dusty Madurai the Kerala Backwaters felt like an untouched paradise. We stayed across the river from the main house in a beautiful house with big balcony overlooking the river. The family mother cooked delicious lunch and breakfast and was happy to teach... More
