I suspect that the folks at Palmy Regency cleverly occupied the former position of Palmy Residency - and are leeching off the fame of the latter. No matter, though, cause Regency is a good budget place. Rooms are large and clean, firm beds although the mosquito netting could use an upgrade. It's not a 100% mosquito proof - in part... More

This was our best spot in South India! The hosts are extremely nice and helpful. The rooms are well situated and clean. Thanks to their good advice, we spent a fantastic day on the backwaters with Santhos, canoeing silently along tiny canals, observing nature and village life, swimming in the lake, then enjoying an excellent lunch at his charming house.... We have been travelling around India and Nepal for two and half months and so have seen our fair share of budget accom. This place comes in top of the list. The staff are soo friendly - they go out of their way to help you and they are always smiling. The rooms are pretty clean and have attached bathrooms... More

This is great value! The small hotel is a few minutes walk to the ferry, bus station, great restaurants (try Thaff -ask owner where it is). The beach is quite a hike - about 3-4 k's. I walked there and caught a tuk tuk back for 50Rs. I'm not much of a swimmer but the life guard said it's the... More

We had already booked an advance room in Palmy regency. We were given a big room with an extra bed and small TV (for Rs 600/-). Everything is nice about this homestay except powercut and mosquitoes. Be sure to carry mosquito repellent cream, though they have mosquito net . One more disadvantage is that the restaurants are a bit far... More
