We arrived in early September a week after heavy monsoon rains and had the luxurious home stay to ourselves for our 2 night visit. Activities including a relaxing evening boat trip, a rejuvenating massage and an insightful introduction into south-Indian cooking were organised by the able housekeeper, Kumar. We also had an enjoyable, long, and very warm walk along the... More

It is interesting to call this property a homestay. The two double rooms, which were very clean, are actually in a traditional Keralan wooden pavillion located at the end of the garden and meals are taken in the main house. We were in the canal view room and were the only guests for the first day and our meals were... More

We stayed for one night at this home stay, and the hospitality was wonderful. The home stay is on a system of canals, and we were taken in a canoe to the homestay. Wonderful experience, on the canoe ride, as we passed through the lifestyle of people living along the canal. Most household chores of cleaning and hygiene done on... More

This is an ideal location to explore and immerse yourself in the backwaters of Kerala. Chacko and Salimma gave us a warm welcome . The homestay is characterful as it is a traditional wooden Keralan building . Whilst there we walked around the village and were greeted by many people en route. We also borrowed the family's bicycles to travel... More

We had a very nice stay at Nelpura. Mr. Jacko and his wife Selima are wonderful hosts, very caring and attentive, they helped us for everything. The concierge Mr Gummar is a great character, highly committed to his mission, a specialy when it comes to feed the guests ;) ! Wahou the meals were amazing, truly the bests of our... More

A very nice place (including terraces with comfortable chairs and beds where you feel like spending time chilling), in a family spirit. Mr Chacko and his wife are really really kind, they helped us a lot to organise things. We had interesting discussions about India, society, which enabled us to understand better the region. The "concierge" is also an emblematic... More

Arrival at Nelpura by canoe is a wonderful way to begin your stay at this charming homestay. We received a very warm welcome from Mr Kumar and later from Mr Chacko and his family. Nelpura was the highlight of our Kerala trip. We enjoyed everything. Our room was perfect, the meals delicious and both the canoe trip and short walk... More

We stayed at Nelpura for three nights as part of a trip around Kerala and it was the best experience of our holiday. The professor and his family were very friendly and welcoming as was Kumar, the caretaker. The food was amazing and extremely plentiful with different dishes served for breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner each day. The accommodation was... More

Our family of 6 stayed here for 2 nights in January. Mr Chacko and his family were so welcoming and friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the setting is just beautiful. We enjoyed the canoe trip at sunset, cycling and walking around the village and a wonderful cooking demonstration from Salimma (which we have re-created at home already!).... More

We found it hard to decide between booking a house boat or staying on land, making trips through the smaller canals. We decided on the latter and chose Nelpura because of it's consistently good reviews. I'm glad we did. Yes, staying on a houseboat would have been a lovely addition to our stay but they are limited to the larger... More
