We highly recommend this hotel. It was our second hotel in Kampot and we extended our two night stay to three, then to five nights. We had Room five, equipped with fridge, television, comfortable bed, a/c, a fan and a small wardrobe. The bathroom had separate shower, toilet sink. High speed WiFi throughout the building. Staff here are fantastic. Sy,... More

Had an excellent few nights here last month (June 2014), the building is certainly going to appeal to anyone who likes a bit of history and period features. The room I had was a terrific size- with the mod cons you need, good aircon, fridge, cable tv, wifi, western bathroom. Location is excellent on the riverfront with excellent view of... More

We didn't stay here as we had already booked our accommodation in Kampot, but went for a few meals there. I had just walked in and one of the owners, Andy, came and gave me brochures on places to go and things to do in the area. We chatted for a while and he gave me some good tips. We... More

We had dinner here last night, good food, lovely relaxed friendly vibe. Realised this morning I'd lost my phone, went back to restaurant prior to opening, found the manager on 3rd visit & very relieved that yes, my phone had been left on the table & they had out away for safekeeping after attempting to find me last night. Big... More

I only ate here once but the food was lovely. The owner of the lodge is an English chef so he knows what he is doing! I had a gourmet vegetarian pizza the night I was there and it was delicious! I am devastated though that I left Kampot before I got to try their Sunday roast as I'm sure... More

Oops, I accidentally wrote this review for the Riverside Hotel, a place we did not stay. We were at the Bokor Mountain Lodge, a place we thoroughly enjoyed. I don't know anything about the Riverside Hotel. I hope this helps correct my error. We recently stayed here for five nights and had a fantastic time. At first sight, we thought... More

I had a room looking out on the side street but maybe that was quieter than a river fronting room. No frills in the room (hairdryer, mounted showerhead, toiletries) but the bed was fine and the room was large with a separate bathroom attached. The restaurant and bar were not busy and it was nice to sit outside the hotel... More

During our time in Kampot, and on our first night at Bokor, I became suddenly ill and needed pretty prompt medical attention. The staff (at 2.00am) were quick to respond. Eric the owner, took it upon himself to personally take us to the hospital and stayed with us late into the night. During the next week (while I was in... More

Had dinner here. Fresh juices were about a third of size you might expect. A chickpea and feta salad was acid drenched with the weird addition of hot tomato sauce coated chickpeas. Pasta carbonara was slimy and somewhat overcooked - although probably the best of a bad bunch. Prices were high (6 Usd for pasta and for the salad). There... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Bokor Mountain Lodge, previously Marco Polo, FCC, is a boutique hotel, restaurant and bar on the riverfront in Kampot. It has recently undergone a dramatic and extensive refurbishment and is now open as a hotel, bar and restaurant. This beautiful old building has once again taken its rightful place in the lives of expats, tourists and locals alike. Nestling on the banks of the Pek Kampong Bai River, which flows into the Gulf of Thailand, the Lodge is set amid wonderfully evocative crumbling French colonial architecture. In this setting, it is impossible not to dream of an age gone by while dining or sipping drinks in the bar and passing the time of day with Kampot's friendly and sociable local residents. Cruise up the river and watch the sunset or relax over a gorgeous 'fish amok' in our restaurant as another day drifts past and you'll begin to realize why Kampot is such a tricky place to leave! ... more   less
