I have stayed in B&Bs all over the US and Europe and I have never stayed in one that was even close to the Double Oaks. The house (listed on the National Register) was beautiful, both inside and out. It was professionally restored and absolutely nothing was missed...everything was elegant, nothing was out of place and the ambience was terrific. The clocks, other antiques and grand piano were amazing. Everything was spotlessly clean. The common rooms were as comfortable as could possibly be.The breakfast was delicious. Our host and hostess were friendly, gracious, knowledgable and interesting. They were there if you needed something but were never intrusive. Our bedroom looked like something out of the movies especially with the claw-foot tub and the mattress was like sleeping on a cloud.
What was the downside? Well, I'm not to keen on street parking but it wasn't all that bad. The other thing is that it is in-town, not close to the interstate, and was not easy (for me) to...
