Woke up at 3am to find bed bugs crawling on me and the bed. I had to go to a doctor to get treatment for the bites--particularly the welts on my arms, back, and neck. Of course, I checked out as soon as the office opened in the morning.

I had planned to stay 3 weeks, but ended up staying one week. I had found a few bugs before--a spider, a few flies, and a really fast, hairy centipede-looking creature. Those I killed or ushered outside without any problems. But bed bugs are blood-sucking nocturnal creatures that crawl on you. Disgusting and terrifying!

In the week I did stay, I noticed some minor problems with the property: Internet access is spotty, and very slow when you can connect. Room was unclean. The once-a-week cleaning service did not change my sheets or vacuum. (The front desk was very apologetic when I asked for fresh sheets--but perhaps not changing the sheets made it so they were unaware of the bed bug infestation?) Room was dusty and damp... more
