I stayed there for a weeks and although its ok for a budget hotel, the service was terrible. At one point the waiter actually forgot my order so I had to go to some other hotel to eat my dinner. If you're on a business trip, this is not the best place to stay, especially if you have early morning... More

Having agreed a price and paid a deposit weeks before with the staff of this very basic place to stay, its owner went against the written down agreement trying to treble the room rates. When i said I would move out next day his accountant asked us to stay for the sake of his staffs wages at the agreed rates.... More

We kindly refer to your review in which you called us racist. We found that to be very offensive and uncalled for. I did not know the person you sent to us, it happened to be your brother in law, neither knew him by his name . He came as any other agent booking for his client in turn of... More

In Kilifi there is no other choice for a budget holiday. There are three 4 stars hotels but very expensive. The Makuti Villas, which is undergoing renovations, is a quiet nice place with the rooms around a garden with a swimming pool in the middle. The restaurant offers african, continental and Italian menu. There is a wood-hoven working all the... More

Makuti Villas is a pretty rustic motel in Kilifi. A large group of students and lecturers stayed here for 8 days whilst attending a conference at nearby Pwanu University College. The staff are all very friendly and accommodating. The motel is neat and tidy, although a bit run down, however it is really very cheap so i can't really complain.... More

It wants to look like a holiday resort - or tropical motel, and manages a good job to it. The pros: big rooms - basic - with room-like mosquito net. Swimming pool and cheap beer (160). The owners are very helpful. Don't hesitate to ask them to fix things, or to put you in a different room; they'll do it.... More

Due to security concerns in Lamu we had to spend a couple of days in Kilifi during a recent trip. We were booked into the Makuti Villas Resort which we soon regretted. Arriving on a Sunday we were promptly tortured by extremely loud music coming from the pool area. Apparently it was family day and the place was crawling with... More

We think that we need the category good between average and very good to describe Makuti Villas. The staff are all warm and friendly and mostly speak good English. The rooms are basic but comfortable although I think there is need for more insect control. The pool is large and well laid out for either a brisk or a leisurely... More

The villa is certainly not for families with children below 7years. The menu was for older kids, the pool not for kids below 10years as it was quite deep. The service was poor and the waiters/ front office were mostly very sullen. our room was to be sprayed because of high presence of mosquitoes but when we asked the gentleman... More
