We stayed one night in our coach RV. We were lucky enough to score a sight that backed up to the river. The setting was beautiful. Plenty of room between sites. Quiet even though a road is close by. The campground is within the park and just 10 minutes from Gatlinburg. We loved our stay here. Would definitely stay here... More

The three most important considerations - Elkmont passes with flying colors. The overall looped campsite layout fits naturally around the Little River, allowing a large number of sites while preserving considerable privacy. You can come off the Little River Trail and within about 20 minutes be dining in Gatlinburg. About ten minutes away (by car) is Laurel Falls, well worth... More

We have traveled over 25,000 miles camping around the entire USA and one of my top 5 campgrounds ever is Elkmont. I especially like that the Little River bisects the campground and can be heard burbling over the rocks and boulders strewn along its bed in the still of the night from over half of the sites in the place.... Elkmont is very pretty, and we slept well with the sounds of the river. The bathrooms were gross, and there many many spiders. In fact I don't think I've ever seen so many spiders in my life. For someone with a general distaste for all things spiders, there were moments for me straight out of a horror film. We easily... More

We tent camped for four nights here in Elkmont. We wanted to save money on lodging so we decided to camp out. We showed up with no reservations and since no one was manning the station, had to pick a site and pay the next morning. The next day we ended up having to move to another site because the... More

A nice campground with the illusion of seclusion. Though there were roads within 100 feet of all four sides of our camp site, the river kept things quiet and this place has a really peaceful feel to it. Good points: you really do feel like you’re in the forest; beautiful views and if you can get near a river, wonderful... More

We stayed one night here on a recent trip to the area. My wife is always apprehensive about tent camping where there are no shower houses but she agreed since it was the last night of our trip. Boy was she glad we did!! When we arrived we apparently lucked out as the ranger told us he just had a... More

The Smoky Mountains are beautiful enough, but when you add a wooded campsite with a the Little River flowing directly behind it...then that is perfect. We stayed in C loop and it was just awesome. the kids had a great time rafting and playing in the river (shallow). The location of Elkmont compared to other Smoky campgrounds is excellent very... My family and I stayed at Elkmont for the first time and really enjoyed it. We had a site beside the river and enjoyed the sound of rushing water. The bathhouses and garbage receptacles were convenient to each site. The campground was clean. If you can brave the cold water, bring your own tube to enjoy floating down the river.... More

I started camping here with my parents in the 1970's and now come back every year with my own kids. Not much has changed and that's a good thing because this place is truly special. The Little River flows through the middle of Elkmont and is one of the prettiest streams I have encountered in my many travels around the... More
