There are not many places to stay near Great Sand Dunes NP. We splurged and stayed here for one night in the main guest house. The room was clean had two queen beds and a private bath. The views of the dunes, the mountains and the isolation of this place is nothing short of breathtaking. With a room in the... More

If you are coming to Colorado, Zapata Ranch is not to be missed. We stayed at Zapata Ranch for three nights as part of a larger Colorado trip this past June with our three girls ages 8, 11 and 14 and my parents who are both over 80. I can't say enough good things about our experience at the ranch.... More

My week at the Zapata Ranch exceeded all my expectations. I wanted the experience of a working ranch and to ride every day I was there. I got all of than and more. I got to ride three different horses during the week and we rode in the Sand Dunes, herded cattle on the Zapata side, and saw herds of... More

My husband and I just had a dream-of-a-lifetime experience at Zapata Ranch! Not only was the setting exactly what we'd pictured when seeking a working ranch vacation, but the staff was cheerful, helpful and patient. Kathleen and Kate matched us up with the right horses and took us at our own pace. They let Rick participate in herding and branding... More

My stay at Zapata ranch was everything I had hoped for...a perfect working ranch experience. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating and passionate about what they were doing. I was really impressed by the mostly young people who worked there...they were articulate, intelligent and fun. I was traveling on my own but everyone made me feel at home and... More

I stayed at Zapata for 5 nights and travelled on my own but felt at home as soon as I stepped out of the car. Everything was absolutely spot on and I couldn't have picked a better place to have my working cowboy (or should I say girl) experience. I picked Zapata because I wanted a working ranch experience and... More

Wonderful, wonderful spot. I stayed only one night but it was very nice. The rooms are clean, pretty and comfortable and the staff are terrific, friendly and accommodating. Afternoon chocolate chip cookies left in the room and delicious, hearty dinner (homemade vanilla bean ice cream and berries for dessert) preceded by cocktail hour (wine and nibbly food.) Peaceful and idyllic... More

We had 3 nights and 2 full days at Zapata Ranch....and had a fabulous time! The staff is outstanding... friendly, intelligent, hard working and fun to be with. Spent a morning on a ride out to the bison herd which range freely. The next day we watched close up the branding of a number of cattle...interesting. Whatever one wanted to... More

We stayed at the ranch in september 2012, and it was a great stay. All the beautiful colors of autumn just started to come out.. It was really the most amazing scenery. Here is an easy look at most things: -Booking: Made the reservation easily, and the follow up up-front of the stay was good We unfortunaly experienced an overbooking,... More

A recent stay at the Zapata Ranch leaves us eagerly looking forward to a return visit!! The staff are all very welcoming, helpful and eager to tailor your ranch stay as you like it- work, ride horses, relax, soak in the hot tub, bird, walk, read, roam the bison, visit the great Sand Dunes National Park,...or just hang out in...
